2DescriptionCVE.org
A stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the security library component of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1. When parsing uploaded X.509 PEM certificates for management display, the system improperly validates the length of the Authority Key Identifier (AKI) extension before copying string tokens into an internal memory buffer. An authenticated user with administrative privileges to import custom certificates can supply a certificate containing an intentionally oversized AKI extension. When the system processes or renders the certificate attributes, this can trigger a stack memory corruption leading to a denial-of-service (DoS) condition by crashing the management daemon.
AnalysisAI
Brocade Fabric OS before 10.0.1 contains a stack-based buffer overflow in its security library when parsing uploaded X.509 PEM certificates. An authenticated administrator can trigger the overflow by importing a certificate with an oversized Authority Key Identifier (AKI) extension, crashing the management daemon and causing a denial of service. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires an authenticated session on the Fabric OS management interface with administrative privilege to import custom certificates, plus adjacent-network reachability to that interface (AV:A). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a medium-severity, authenticated denial-of-service issue rather than a top-tier priority. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Brocade Fabric OS 10.0.1 or later, which contains the vendor fix for this stack buffer overflow, as indicated in the vendor security advisory (https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39082). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
