Adjacent management-network vector (AV:A), authenticated low-priv account (PR:L), and the need to inject crafted IdP attributes make it AC:H; successful role bypass yields full root-equivalent control, so C/I/A High.

Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1 contain an authorization logic vulnerability in the AAA (Authentication, Authorization, and Accounting) integration framework allows remote authenticated users to gain root-equivalent chassis access controls. By returning specific, crafted Vendor-Specific Attributes (VSAs) or directory claims from an external identity provider (such as RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+, or Federated IDP), an account can bypass administrative role restriction checks during session establishment.
AnalysisAI
Privilege escalation in Brocade Fabric OS (versions before 10.0.1) allows a low-privilege authenticated account to obtain root-equivalent chassis administrative access when the switch is configured to use an external AAA identity source. The switch fails to constrain crafted Vendor-Specific Attributes or directory claims returned by RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+, or a Federated IdP against its administrative role restrictions during session establishment, so an attacker who can influence those returned attributes is granted full control. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the switch to be configured for external AAA integration (RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+, or a Federated IDP) - deployments using only local authentication are not affected. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but conditional privilege-escalation issue rather than a mass-exploitation emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Brocade Fabric OS 10.0.1 or later, as directed by Broadcom/Brocade Security Advisory 39150 (https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39150). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Brocade Fabric OS switches and flag every device running a version below 10.0.1 that is configured to authenticate administrators against an external AAA source (RADIUS, LDAP, TACACS+, or a federated IdP); restrict management-plane access to a hardened jump host or dedicated management VLAN and notify the identity team to monitor for anomalous role or group attribute changes. …
