3DescriptionCVE.org
An OS command injection vulnerability exists in the REST API management interface of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 allows an authenticated, high-privileged remote attacker to execute arbitrary system commands with root permissions. An attacker with administrative privileges to configure SSH known host settings can supply specially crafted parameter values containing shell metacharacters to trigger command execution on the host system.
AnalysisAI
Brocade Fabric OS contains an OS command injection flaw in the REST API management interface that lets an authenticated, high-privileged administrator execute arbitrary commands as root on the underlying switch host by supplying shell metacharacters in SSH known-host configuration parameters. Affected deployments are Fabric OS releases before 9.2.2d and the 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 range; the vulnerability carries a CVSS v4.0 base score of 8.5 (High) and an equivalent CVSS v3.1 assessment of 8.5, with the practical risk tempered because an attacker must already hold administrative rights and reach the switch over an adjacent management network rather than the open Internet. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires an authenticated, high-privileged (administrative) account with the ability to configure SSH known-host settings through the Fabric OS REST API management interface (PR:H). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but constrained-priority issue rather than a drop-everything emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Brocade Fabric OS to 9.2.2d or later for the 9.x branch, as identified in the vendor advisory; for deployments on the 10.0.0 line, move off the affected 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 builds to a build later than 10.0.0a1 and confirm the supported target release with Broadcom before upgrading. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours: Inventory all Brocade Fabric OS deployments and identify any running versions prior to 9.2.2d or within 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1; immediately restrict REST API access to dedicated management VLANs and limit administrative privileges to only essential personnel. …
