Requires authenticated administrator (PR:H) reaching the switch management REST API over an adjacent network (AV:A); low complexity and heap RCE yield full C/I/A impact with unchanged scope.

3DescriptionCVE.org
When Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1 processes trunk configuration operations, the application parses user-supplied list strings into dynamically allocated heap arrays without enforcing boundary checks on the maximum allowable number of elements. An authenticated administrator can exploit this vulnerability via crafted REST API requests containing an excessive number of list delimiters, causing heap corruption that can result in service crash or arbitrary code execution.
AnalysisAI
Heap corruption in Brocade Fabric OS before 10.0.1 allows an authenticated administrator to crash a SAN switch's management service or potentially achieve arbitrary code execution by sending a crafted trunk configuration request through the REST API that is padded with an excessive number of list delimiters. The affected code path copies delimiter-separated list strings into a dynamically allocated heap array without validating the maximum number of elements, so a request that overruns the allocation corrupts heap metadata. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires (1) valid administrator-level credentials on the switch (PR:H - an authenticated admin, not an anonymous user), (2) adjacent-network reachability to the Fabric OS REST API management interface (AV:A), and (3) crafting a trunk configuration REST API request whose user-supplied list string contains an excessive number of delimiters to overflow the dynamically allocated heap array. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but conditional priority rather than a drop-everything emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Brocade Fabric OS 10.0.1 or later - the vendor-released patch version for this issue - and treat that as the primary fix, following the guidance in Broadcom/Brocade advisory 39073 (https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39073). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, restrict network access to the management interface and REST API of Brocade Fabric OS versions prior to 10.0.1 to only trusted administrative networks, enforce least privilege for administrator accounts, and enable detailed logging of REST API trunk configuration requests. …
