AV:L and AC:H because the diagnostic path is local-only and reachable solely by chaining another flaw; PR:L for the required foothold; impact is a daemon crash, so A:H with C:N/I:N.

2DescriptionCVE.org
A memory buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the internal diagnostic and route validation routines used by the Fabric Shortest Path First (FSPF) protocol component of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1. While this code path is part of internal diagnostic functionality and is not directly accessible via standard user interfaces or CLI management commands, an input processing flaw allows incoming or internally routed diagnostic state payloads to exceed allocated memory boundaries. An attacker that is able to chain or link other vulnerabilities to exploit this internal diagnostic could cause a heap- or stack-based memory overrun, resulting in a daemon crash (Denial of Service) or potential arbitrary code execution within the context of the routing daemon.
AnalysisAI
Heap- or stack-based memory corruption in the internal FSPF route-validation and diagnostic routine of Brocade Fabric OS can crash the routing daemon or, worst case, allow code execution in the daemon's context, but only for a local, authenticated attacker who first chains one or more separate vulnerabilities to inject an oversized diagnostic state payload. The flawed code path is explicitly not exposed through standard user interfaces or CLI management commands, so the CVSS 4.0 score of 6.8 overstates standalone risk; our independent assessment rates it medium (CVSS 3.1 AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N, availability-only impact) and it cannot be triggered in isolation against a default configuration. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires (1) an existing low-privileged local presence on the switch (AV:L, PR:L) and (2) the ability to chain one or more OTHER vulnerabilities to deliver an oversized diagnostic state payload into the FSPF route-validation routine, because that internal diagnostic code path is explicitly not exposed through standard user interfaces or CLI management commands. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a medium-severity (CVSS 4.0 base 6.8) issue whose real-world risk is substantially lower than a raw buffer-overflow/RCE headline would suggest. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to Brocade Fabric OS 10.0.1 or later, which is the vendor-released patch version that resolves CVE-2026-94582; follow the Broadcom/Brocade advisory at https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39161 for the validated upgrade path for each switch platform. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
