3DescriptionCVE.org
An arbitrary file manipulation vulnerability exists in the WebTools management interface of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1. When processing configuration transfer requests, the application fails to properly validate and sanitize a user-supplied status file path parameter. An authenticated administrative user can exploit this issue by submitting a specially crafted status file parameter, causing the underlying process to move an arbitrary system file to a predictable, world-readable temporary directory. This can lead to persistent Denial of Service (DoS), critical system file destruction, host compromise, or sensitive data leakage.
AnalysisAI
An arbitrary file-move flaw in the WebTools management interface of Brocade Fabric OS (all builds before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1) lets a high-privileged, authenticated administrator supply a crafted status-file path during a configuration transfer so that the underlying process relocates an arbitrary system file into a predictable, world-readable temporary directory. Successful exploitation yields high confidentiality and integrity impact on the switch - leaking sensitive configuration or credential material and destroying/misplacing critical system files - and can cause persistent denial of service, though the CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:A/PR:H, with no vulnerable-system availability impact scored) and the independent assessment agree the attack is confined to the management plane and requires both adjacent/management-network reach and a valid admin account. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires (1) network reach to the WebTools management interface on an adjacent/management network (AV:A, not internet-facing by default), and (2) a valid administrative-level account (PR:H). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but access-gated risk, not a drive-by threat. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Fabric OS 9.2.2d (the version that closes the pre-9.2.2d branch); for the 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 range, apply the fixed maintenance build identified in Broadcom advisory https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39079, since an exact 10.0.x fix build is not enumerated in the provided data - confirm with the vendor before scheduling a maintenance window. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, confirm whether any Brocade Fabric OS deployments run versions before 9.2.2d or 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1, restrict WebTools management interface access to trusted management VLANs and jump hosts via ACLs or firewalls, enforce multifactor authentication and least-privilege admin accounts, and review WebTools and config-transfer logs for anomalous status-file or file-move activity. …
