AV:A and PR:L because exploitation needs management-network reach plus a low-privilege or directory account; AC:L for straightforward metacharacter injection; full C/I/A as it yields privileged OS command execution.

3DescriptionCVE.org
Multiple OS Command Injection vulnerabilities exist in the management interface and session processing routines of Brocade Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1. Input processing flaws during remote management connection validation and session verification for directory-based user accounts allow untrusted input containing shell metacharacters to reach internal system execution wrappers. An authenticated user or a compromised directory service account can exploit these vulnerabilities to execute arbitrary operating system commands with elevated privileges on the target device.
AnalysisAI
Authenticated OS command injection in the management interface and session-processing routines of Brocade Fabric OS allows a low-privilege Fabric OS account - or an attacker who controls a directory-service account trusted by the switch - to smuggle shell metacharacters into connection-validation and session-verification input and reach internal execution wrappers, running arbitrary operating-system commands with elevated privileges on the SAN switch. Only Fabric OS versions before 10.0.1 are affected, and exploitation requires network reachability to the management interface over an adjacent or management network plus prior authentication (CVSS:4.0 base 8.6; the independent assessment concurs on AV:A/PR:L/UI:N with high confidentiality, integrity and availability impact). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires (1) network reachability to the Brocade Fabric OS management interface over an adjacent/management network (AV:A), and (2) either a valid low-privilege authenticated Fabric OS user account or control of a directory-service (LDAP/Active Directory) account trusted by the switch for directory-based login (PR:L). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a credible mid-to-high priority issue for organizations running Brocade Fibre Channel SAN switches, but not a drop-everything emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Brocade Fabric OS 10.0.1 or later, per the Broadcom advisory at https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39076; apply the vendor's recommended fixed maintenance release for each affected switch family and treat pre-10.0.1 code as unsupported for this issue. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, restrict management interface access to trusted management networks only, enforce strict network segmentation, and audit all Fabric OS accounts and trusted directory service accounts for unnecessary privileges. …
