Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires LOCAL access to the device's iOS unified-log/diagnostic archives (e.g., a sysdiagnose bundle, backup, or MDM-collected logs) from an OpenClaw iOS build before 2026.8.11, where the agent deep-link handler logged the complete URL with the bearer key at privacy:.public. Additional limiting conditions: the recovered bearer key must still be unrotated (valid) at replay time, and the attacker must reconstruct a forged deep link - reflected in AV:L, AC:H, and AT:P. This is NOT remotely exploitable and is not triggerable against a default running app over the network; it depends on the attacker acquiring the log artifacts and on the key not having been rotated.

Impact

This is a genuine-but-conditional information-disclosure flaw (CWE-532), not a mass-exploitable network vulnerability. The vendor/CVE CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:L/AC:H/AT:P/PR:N/UI:P/VC:H/VI:H) is internally consistent with the description: exploitation is LOCAL (attacker must obtain the device's diagnostic/unified-log archives), of HIGH complexity with additional attack requirements (AT:P - keys must still be unrotated and captured), and only passive user interaction. The 7.2 score is driven by the dual high impact (VC:H bearer-key recovery, VI:H forged deep-link agent submissions that bypass the local confirmation prompt), not by ease of access. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public POC were provided, so per precision rules this is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis.' The vendor patch is confirmed (commit 8361f370 flips the URL log field from privacy:.public to dropping the URL entirely, plus a regression test). Net: real and worth patching on affected fleets, but the local-access + AC:H + AT:P gating makes it a moderate, targeted-risk issue rather than a widespread emergency. No signals conflict; the CVSS local vector aligns cleanly with the 'obtain diagnostic archives' description.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker who gains access to an iOS diagnostic/sysdiagnose archive from a device running OpenClaw iOS before 2026.8.11 (e.g., a shared support bundle, backup, or MDM-collected log set) greps the unified logs for the 'agent deep link' entries, which record the full deep-link URL including the persistent bearer key. Because the key is unrotated, the attacker crafts a forged deep link with the recovered key and submits agent requests that skip the local confirmation prompt. No public POC is referenced, and exploitation requires local possession of the log archive plus a still-valid key (AC:H/AT:P).

AnalysisAIv1 – Sep 22, 2026

OpenClaw iOS builds before 2026.8.11 write complete agent deep-link URLs - including persistent bearer keys - into the iOS unified log with public diagnostic visibility, so anyone who obtains a diagnostic archive (sysdiagnose bundle, device backup, or MDM-collected log set) can recover those keys and replay them inside forged deep links to submit agent requests without the normal on-device confirmation prompt. Exploitation is local and conditional rather than remote: the recovered bearer key must still be unrotated and valid at replay time, and the attacker must reconstruct a working forged deep link, which is why the assessed vector carries AV:L/AC:H (CVSS:3.1 AV:L/AC:H/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:N). The status of this issue is that of a genuine but constrained credential-exposure flaw - no public exploit identified at time of analysis, no confirmed actively exploited (CISA KEV) activity, and a vendor patch shipping in 2026.8.11.

RemediationAI

Vendor-released patch: upgrade OpenClaw iOS to 2026.8.11 or later, which removes the privacy: .public original-URL value from the agent deep-link log statement (upstream commit 8361f3704dd5e151ff1325e62ff5de658b6c62e6; advisory GHSA-5j57-84cx-r295). Because the exposure window means bearer keys may already exist in retained log corpora, upgrading the app alone is insufficient - rotate every bearer key issued to an OpenClaw iOS deployment that ran a pre-2026.8.11 build, since unrotated keys remain replayable in forged deep links; the trade-off is that rotation invalidates existing automation credentials and requires re-enrollment of agents that hold them. In parallel, treat existing diagnostic artifacts as compromised: purge or restrict distribution of historical sysdiagnose bundles, device backups, and MDM-collected logs for affected devices, and tighten MDM/log-collection policies so unified logs are no longer auto-uploaded from mobile endpoints - the trade-off is reduced post-incident diagnostic visibility, which should be offset by scoping log export only to devices under active troubleshooting. If immediate upgrade is not possible, restrict who can pull diagnostic archives from affected devices and monitor for forged deep-link invocations of agents from unexpected sources; note that these are compensating measures only and do not remove the logged URL from already-captured archives or from logs still being written by the unpatched build.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The root cause is CWE-532 (Insertion of Sensitive Information into Log File) in OpenClaw's iOS client. The Swift logging call in apps/ios/Sources/Model/NodeAppModel.swift passed the full deep-link string to the OSLog subsystem with the privacy annotation privacy: .public, which explicitly instructs Apple's unified logging system to treat the value as non-redacted diagnostic output rather than redacting it as private data. As a result the entire agent deep-link URL, which embeds a persistent bearer key used to authorize agent requests, was written verbatim into the unified log - the same log corpus that is captured by sysdiagnose bundles, local device backups, Console.app sessions, and MDM-managed diagnostic collection and forwarded to support or analysis pipelines. The upstream commit 8361f3704dd5e151ff1325e62ff5de658b6c62e6 fixes this by dropping url=\(originalURL.absoluteString, privacy: .public) from the log statement while retaining only the non-sensitive message-length field, and it adds a regression test (agent deep link logging excludes the original URL) that asserts the deep-link handler no longer references the public-unredacted original URL. Because deep links are the mechanism by which agents are invoked, a recovered key combined with a reconstructed deep link allows an attacker to reach the same handleAgentDeepLink code path and trigger agent requests that would otherwise require local user confirmation in the app's UI.

DescriptionCVE.org

OpenClaw iOS before 2026.8.11 logs complete agent deep-link URLs including persistent bearer keys to unified logs as public diagnostic data. Attackers who obtain diagnostic archives can recover unrotated keys and replay them in forged deep links to submit agent requests without local confirmation prompts.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

OpenClaw iOS releases prior to 2026.8.11 expose persistent agent authorization keys through diagnostic logs, creating a credential-recovery risk if diagnostic archives are mishandled or obtained by unauthorized parties. Although exploitation requires local access to those archives plus unrotated keys and forged deep links, a successful replay could allow agent requests to bypass on-device confirmation, affecting data confidentiality and integrity. Leadership should prioritize remediation because affected devices may be widespread and the exposure can undermine trust in agent-mediated workflows.
