3DescriptionCVE.org
A buffer overflow vulnerability in the XML processing functionality of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS® software enables an unauthenticated attacker with network access to the management web or dataplane interface to cause a denial of service (DoS) condition on VM-Series firewalls or execute arbitrary code with root privileges on the PA-Series firewalls.
The security risk posed by this issue is minimized when the management interface is restricted to only trusted internal IP addresses according to our recommended best practice deployment guidelines https://live.paloaltonetworks.com/t5/community-blogs/tips-amp-tricks-how-to-secure-the-management-access-of-your-palo/ba-p/464431 .
Panorama is impacted by this vulnerability.
AnalysisAI
Buffer overflow in the XML processing stack of Palo Alto Networks PAN-OS enables unauthenticated remote attackers to cause denial of service on VM-Series virtual firewalls or execute arbitrary code with root privileges on PA-Series physical appliances. The vulnerability is reachable via the management web interface or dataplane interface, and Panorama management platforms are also confirmed in scope. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Network access to the PAN-OS management web interface or the dataplane interface is required - these are the two explicitly documented attack surfaces. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 base score of 7.2 with vector AV:N/AC:H/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H reflects genuinely high impact offset by elevated attack complexity - the vendor's AC:H assessment is consistent with an XML-based overflow requiring precise payload construction to reliably trigger the out-of-bounds write. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Apply the vendor-released patch detailed in the Palo Alto Networks security advisory at https://security.paloaltonetworks.com/CVE-2026-0310 - exact fixed version numbers are not available from the provided intelligence and must be verified there before upgrade planning. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
