2DescriptionCVE.org
A Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability was identified in GitHub Enterprise Server that allowed remote code execution on the instance. Insufficient network isolation allowed malicious pre-receive hook code to impersonate an internal service and redirect trusted internal requests to a privileged service, leading to elevated code execution. Exploitation required pre-receive hook networking to be enabled and either site administrator privileges or write access to a repository containing a configured pre-receive hook. This vulnerability affected all versions of GitHub Enterprise Server prior to 3.22 and was fixed in versions 3.17.20, 3.18.14, 3.19.11, 3.20.7, and 3.21.5. This vulnerability was reported via the GitHub Bug Bounty program.
AnalysisAI
GitHub Enterprise Server SSRF chain delivers remote code execution by allowing malicious pre-receive hook code to impersonate trusted internal GHES services and redirect requests to privileged internal endpoints. All GHES versions prior to 3.22 are affected; GitHub has released patches across five supported branches (3.17.20, 3.18.14, 3.19.11, 3.20.7, and 3.21.5). …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Two conditions must both be satisfied. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 7.7 accurately reflects the realistic risk reduction imposed by AT:P (attack requirements present): pre-receive hook networking is a non-default configuration that must be explicitly enabled. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Vendor-released patches are available: upgrade GHES to 3.17.20, 3.18.14, 3.19.11, 3.20.7, or 3.21.5 depending on the installed branch, referencing the respective release notes linked above. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
