An unrecovered panic in the event stream header decoder in Amazon AWS SDK for Go v2 before release-2026-03-23 might allow an unauthenticated remote actor to terminate the consuming application process via a crafted event stream response frame containing a header value type outside the valid range.
To remediate this issue, users should upgrade to release-2026-03-23 or later, and patch any forked or derivative code.
AnalysisAI
Process termination via unrecovered panic in AWS SDK for Go v2's EventStream header decoder allows a remote actor to crash any Go application consuming AWS streaming service responses. Sending a crafted EventStream response frame containing a header value type byte outside the valid range triggers an unhandled Go panic that propagates to terminate the host process. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires two concurrent conditions: (1) the target Go application must be using one of the affected AWS SDK for Go v2 packages to consume an EventStream-based AWS service - specifically services like Bedrock runtime inference, Bedrock agent runtime, or similar streaming APIs - and (2) the attacker must be able to control or interpose on the EventStream response delivered to the client, requiring a MITM position on the TLS session, DNS hijacking directing the client to a rogue endpoint, or direct control of a service endpoint the application trusts. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | Two CVSS framings are on record and diverge considerably: NVD assigns CVSS 4.0 at 8.2 (VA:H, AT:P, AC:H), while the GHSA advisory rates it CVSS 3.1 Medium at 5.9 using vector AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:N/A:H - both confirmed, and the gap reflects methodological differences between scoring versions rather than a data error. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |

| Remediation | Upgrade to the AWS SDK for Go v2 release tagged release-2026-03-23 or any later release, available at https://github.com/aws/aws-sdk-go-v2/releases/tag/release-2026-03-23. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
