| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the attacker already possesses a valid public session token for a specific chat in a Trigger.dev 4.5.0-4.5.x deployment using the Dashboard Agent input proxy; with that token the attacker reads the in records endpoint where the delegated userActorToken is stored in browser-readable session input records (payload.metadata.userActorToken). Limiting factors: the vulnerability is gated by possession of the chat session token (CVSS PR:L, not unauthenticated), involves passive user interaction (UI:P), affects only the narrow version band 4.5.0 up to but not including 4.6.0, and is specific to deployments exercising the Dashboard Agent input proxy chat feature; it is fully remediated by upgrading to 4.6.0. |
| Impact | This is a medium-severity credential-exposure issue (CWE-522), not a top-priority emergency. The vendor-supplied CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:P/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N) shows network reach and low attack complexity, but two signals materially cap real-world risk: PR:L means the attacker must already hold a valid chat public session token (authenticated, not anonymous), and UI:P indicates some passive user interaction is in play. Confidentiality impact is only Low and there is no integrity or availability impact, consistent with disclosure of a single delegated token rather than full compromise. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or POC was provided in the input; per precision rules this is 'no public exploit identified at time of analysis,' so there is no evidence of active or automated exploitation. The chief caveat is scope escalation: the recovered userActorToken can be replayed for environment JWT exchange, so the practical blast radius depends on what that delegated actor token authorizes within the victim's Trigger.dev environment - the base CVSS low impact may understate downstream access. Treat as a prompt-but-routine patch, prioritized above baseline for multi-tenant or shared-environment deployments. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who has obtained a chat's public session token (e.g., a shared or leaked chat link in a multi-tenant Trigger.dev 4.5.0 deployment) queries the Dashboard Agent input proxy's records endpoint and reads payload.metadata.userActorToken from the browser-readable session input records. They then replay that delegated user-actor token against the environment JWT exchange to assume the delegated actor's access. No public POC or active exploitation was indicated in the provided data. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 21, 2026
Trigger.dev versions 4.5.0 through 4.5.x expose a delegated user-actor token through the Dashboard Agent input proxy, which persists the token in browser-readable session input records at payload.metadata.userActorToken. An attacker who already holds a chat's public session token can query the input records endpoint to recover that credential and replay it to exchange for an environment JWT, yielding low-privilege read access within the targeted environment; the CVSS 4.0 base score is 5.1 and the assessed CVSS 3.1 vector indicates network-reachable, low-privilege, user-interaction-dependent confidentiality impact only. No public exploit code or confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) was identified at time of analysis, and the issue is fully remediated in 4.6.0.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade Trigger.dev to 4.6.0 or later, which stops persisting the delegated user-actor token in browser-readable session input records and closes the replay path to the environment JWT exchange; see the GitHub advisory at https://github.com/triggerdotdev/trigger.dev/security/advisories/GHSA-wpp9-mq73-fhqm and the VulnCheck advisory at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/trigger-dev-4.5.0-before-4.6.0-dashboard-agent-user-token-disclosure-via-session-records. Because the credential has already been written to readable records on any 4.5.x instance that used the feature, patching alone is insufficient - also rotate user-actor tokens and any environment JWTs minted from them, and invalidate outstanding public chat session tokens so previously disclosed values cannot be replayed. If an immediate upgrade is not possible, disable the Dashboard Agent input proxy chat feature (the trade-off is loss of agent chat functionality) or place the input records endpoint behind restrictive network/reverse-proxy rules limited to trusted operators (the trade-off is that legitimate dashboard chat clients outside that boundary break), and shorten environment JWT lifetimes to reduce the useful window of a leaked token. Restrictive controls should be treated as temporary, since only the 4.6.0 upgrade removes the underlying credential exposure.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Trigger.dev is a background jobs and AI-agent workflow platform; the Dashboard Agent input proxy is the component that relays chat input into agent runs and records session input for later retrieval. CWE-522 (Insufficiently Protected Credentials) applies because the delegated user-actor token - a credential minted to act on behalf of the end user - is written into session input records that the browser client is permitted to read, rather than being confined to server-side storage or a redacted/opaque reference. The trust boundary failure is one of scoping: possession of a chat's public session token is intended to grant access to that chat's visible transcript, but because the sensitive token lives in the same readable payload metadata, the read permission effectively escalates into credential disclosure. Replay of the leaked userActorToken against the environment JWT exchange then converts a chat-scoped secret into broader environment-level authorization. The affected CPE is cpe:2.3:a:triggerdotdev:trigger.dev, bounded to versions >=4.5.0 and <4.6.0; note that the disclosure only matters in deployments that actually exercise the Dashboard Agent input proxy chat feature.

2DescriptionCVE.org
Trigger.dev 4.5.0 before 4.6.0 contains an information disclosure vulnerability in the Dashboard Agent input proxy that stores a delegated user-actor token in browser-readable session input records. Attackers holding a chat's public session token can read the in records endpoint to recover the token from payload.metadata.userActorToken and replay it for environment JWT exchange.
