DescriptionCVE.org

n8n versions before 1.123.69, 2.33.4, and 2.34.1 contain an information disclosure vulnerability in the GraphQL node. When a GraphQL request fails at the connection level, the node re-throws the underlying HTTP client error unchanged instead of wrapping it in n8n's standard error type. That error contains the live request's headers, including a decrypted credential secret, which the execution engine persists verbatim. Any authenticated user able to read the resulting execution can retrieve the decrypted credential secret from the stored run data.

AnalysisAI

Decrypted credential secrets are exposed in execution logs in n8n workflow automation software across versions before 1.123.69, 2.33.4, and 2.34.1. The GraphQL node fails to wrap connection-level HTTP client errors in n8n's standard error type, propagating raw error objects - which carry decrypted credential headers - directly into the persistent execution record. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires an authenticated n8n user account with at least read access to workflow execution records for the targeted workflow - PR:L confirms authentication is mandatory. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H) signals a network-reachable, low-complexity attack requiring only a standard authenticated account, with high confidentiality impact and no attack-requirement preconditions beyond authentication. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An attacker with a low-privileged n8n account identifies a workflow containing a GraphQL node configured with a stored credential. They trigger a connection-level failure - either by temporarily making the target GraphQL endpoint unreachable or by waiting for an organic failure - causing the workflow execution to fail and persist the raw HTTP error (including decrypted Authorization headers) to the execution log. …
Remediation Upgrade n8n to a patched release: version 1.123.69 on the 1.x branch, 2.33.4 on the 2.33.x branch, or 2.34.1 on the 2.34.x branch, as documented in the vendor security advisory GHSA-9fqj-7wc5-cwhx at https://github.com/n8n-io/n8n/security/advisories/GHSA-9fqj-7wc5-cwhx; additional technical context is available from VulnCheck at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/n8n-before-credential-leak-via-graphql-node-error. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
