OpenPanel before 2.3.0 fails to properly validate chart formula expressions, allowing authenticated project members with read access to execute arbitrary code by recovering the native JavaScript Function constructor through mathjs matrix objects. Attackers can use the recovered constructor to load Node.js built-ins and execute operating system commands with the privileges of the API process, bypassing organization authorization boundaries.

AnalysisAI
Authenticated remote code execution in OpenPanel before 2.3.0 allows any project member with read access to escape the mathjs formula sandbox by traversing matrix object prototypes to recover the native JavaScript Function constructor. Once recovered, the constructor enables loading Node.js core modules such as child_process, granting full OS command execution with the privileges of the API process. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a valid OpenPanel account with at minimum read-level membership in any project on the target instance - no administrative or elevated role is needed. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.7 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H/VI:H/VA:H) accurately captures the network-reachable, low-complexity nature of the exploit, which requires only read-level project membership and no user interaction. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade to OpenPanel 2.3.0 or later, which introduces proper validation of chart formula expressions to block mathjs sandbox escape. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
