DescriptionCVE.org

Tinypool is a minimal Node.js worker thread pool implementation. Prior to 2.1.2, Tinypool reads filename from a caller-supplied options object in pool.run(task, options) without requiring an own property, so a polluted Object.prototype.filename can replace the intended worker module. Applications are affected only when they pass their own second-argument options object to pool.run(); calls without that argument use the trusted default options object. An attacker who can first pollute the prototype can cause the worker pool to load attacker-selected JavaScript and can read or modify task data with the host process's privileges. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.2.

AnalysisAI

Code injection in Tinypool versions prior to 2.1.2 allows an attacker who first pollutes Object.prototype to load attacker-controlled JavaScript modules via the worker pool, potentially reading or modifying task data with host process privileges. The flaw is exploitable only when an application calls pool.run(task, options) with its own options object; calls that omit the options argument use a trusted default and are unaffected. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires a chain of specific conditions, all drawn from the advisory: (1) the attacker must FIRST be able to pollute Object.prototype (e.g. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuine high-impact but condition-gated vulnerability rather than a straightforward remote RCE. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Tinypool 2.1.2 or later. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, generate a software bill of materials and search every repository, lockfile (package-lock.json, yarn.lock, pnpm-lock.yaml) and container image for Tinypool versions below 2.1.2, noting it most often arrives as a transitive dependency of Vitest and other Vite-based tooling, and identify every service and pipeline that resolves it. …
