AC:H because a pre-existing prototype-pollution primitive and a subsequent worker spawn are required; S:C as attacker code escapes the library to run with full host-process authority over secrets and build artifacts.

Tinypool is a minimal Node.js worker thread pool implementation. Prior to 2.1.1, Tinypool constructs ThreadPool.options from a normal options object and reads the execArgv and env worker options in dist/index.js, allowing values inherited from a polluted Object.prototype to be copied into own properties and passed to worker_threads.Worker. An attacker who can first pollute either property can cause each newly spawned worker to load attacker-selected JavaScript through command-line preload arguments or NODE_OPTIONS, resulting in code execution with the host process's privileges and possible access to CI secrets, signing material, or build artifacts. This issue is fixed in version 2.1.1.

AnalysisAI
Prototype pollution in the Tinypool npm package prior to 2.1.1 escalates to code execution: an unauthenticated remote attacker who can first pollute Object.prototype.execArgv or Object.prototype.env.NODE_OPTIONS (via a separate prototype-pollution flaw in the host application) has those inherited values copied into ThreadPool.options and forwarded to worker_threads.Worker, so every newly spawned worker loads attacker-supplied JavaScript through --import/--require preload arguments or NODE_OPTIONS. The payload executes with the host process's privileges, potentially exposing CI secrets, signing material, or build artifacts. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires that the host application ALREADY has a prototype-pollution vulnerability allowing the attacker to set Object.prototype.execArgv (e.g. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a high-severity prototype-pollution-to-RCE issue (CWE-1321) in Tinypool, carrying a vendor CVSS 4.0 base score of 9.5 (AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:N with full High vulnerable- and subsequent-system impact). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Primary fix: upgrade Tinypool to version 2.1.1 or later - the vendor-released patch (release v2.1.1, commit 24df4e7, PR #134) switches the options assembly to Object.assign(Object.create(null), ...), eliminating the prototype-inheritance sink. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Node.js applications, CI/CD runners, and build systems for dependencies on the Tinypool npm package, prioritizing any version prior to 2.1.1; block deployments of affected pipelines that accept untrusted input, restrict NODE_OPTIONS and worker preload arguments such as --import/--require, enable Node.js prototype-pollution mitigations like --disable-proto=throw where compatible, and rotate CI secrets, signing keys, and build credentials that may have been exposed. …
