Local authenticated user (AV:L/PR:L); AC:H because memory corruption beyond a crash needs specific heap conditions; C:N since an OOB write discloses no data, while I:H/A:H reflect kernel corruption and crash.

In the WibuKey driver for Windows below Version 6.72, insufficient validation of user input when calculating the size of a kernel buffer could cause small amounts of data to be written outside the intended kernel buffer. This can lead to a system crash. Under unfavorable circumstances, adjacent kernel memory may be modified.

AnalysisAI
Out-of-bounds kernel memory writes in the WibuKey driver for Windows below version 6.72 allow an authenticated, locally logged-on low-privileged user who can send input to the driver (for example via a device IOCTL) to crash the affected system and, under unfavorable kernel heap layouts, modify adjacent kernel memory. Because the flaw requires local access and authentication and depends on uncontrolled kernel memory layout, reliability is limited primarily to denial of service, with adjacent-memory modification explicitly conditional rather than a guaranteed outcome. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires the vulnerable WibuKey kernel driver (below version 6.72) to be installed, and local access by an authenticated low-privileged user able to send input to the driver (e.g., via a device IOCTL) - per CVSS PR:L and AV:L. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a local, high-complexity kernel out-of-bounds write (CWE-787) in the WibuKey Windows driver below v6.72, scored CVSS 7.0 (CVSS:3.1/AV:L/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade the WibuKey driver for Windows to version 6.72 or later, which is the fixed release identified in the vendor advisory (https://cdn.wibu.com/fileadmin/wibu_downloads/security_advisories/AdvisoryWIBU-100065.pdf); prioritize hosts where untrusted or low-privileged users have interactive logon, since exploitation requires local authenticated access to the driver. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Windows systems running the WibuKey driver and identify any versions below 6.72; restrict local interactive access to trusted users on those systems, enable crash and driver-fault monitoring, and confirm whether the driver is business-critical. …
