Network-reachable templating engine, low complexity, requires a low-privilege authenticated account (PR:L); sandbox escape to host code execution changes scope (S:C) with full C/I/A impact.

3DescriptionCVE.org
A flaw was found in Foreman. An authenticated attacker with low-level permissions can achieve remote code execution (RCE) by bypassing the safemode sandbox within the templating engine. Due to improper handling of delegated methods, an attacker can append unauthorized functions to the allowed execution list, enabling them to run arbitrary commands on the hosting server.
AnalysisAI
Authenticated remote code execution in Foreman and Red Hat Satellite 6.19 for RHEL 9 allows an attacker who holds only low-level permissions to bypass the safemode sandbox in the provisioning/report templating engine and execute arbitrary commands on the management host, carrying a vendor score of 9.9 (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:H/A:H). Exploitation is authenticated (CVSS vector PR:L) and requires the ability to author or render templates; the scope-changed impact is severe because a successful escape yields control of the Satellite/Foreman management server, not just the template context, but the prerequisite of valid credentials plus template privileges means the 9.9 rating overstates how easily the issue is reached in hardened deployments. …

Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, confirm all Foreman and Red Hat Satellite 6.19 for RHEL 9 instances, restrict provisioning/report template authoring and rendering permissions to the smallest trusted administrator group, audit accounts with template privileges, enable detailed logging, and review recent template changes or command execution for signs of abuse. …
