IBM Financial Transaction Manager (FTM) for RedHat OpenShift is vulnerable to unauthenticated remote code execution via Java native deserialization on the PayDir Business Rules Manager RMI SSL endpoint (BrmRMISSLServerSocketFactory.java:95, EP8). An adjacent-network attacker can deliver a crafted serialized payload to achieve arbitrary code execution, exposing all PayDir credentials and enabling manipulation of payment business rules.
AnalysisAI
Unauthenticated remote code execution in IBM Financial Transaction Manager (FTM) for Red Hat OpenShift allows an attacker positioned on an adjacent network segment to send a crafted Java-serialized payload to the PayDir Business Rules Manager RMI SSL endpoint and execute arbitrary code on the target host. Because the vulnerable service is exposed with no authentication and no user interaction required (CVSS 8.8, AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H), successful exploitation exposes all PayDir credentials and enables manipulation of payment business rules, producing high confidentiality and integrity impact. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires network-adjacent reachability to the PayDir Business Rules Manager RMI SSL endpoint (EP8) exposed by BrmRMISSLServerSocketFactory - the attacker must be positioned on the same or a routable adjacent network segment (AV:A), not the open internet. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine high-priority vulnerability, not a high-CVSS-but-low-risk artifact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Patch available per vendor advisory: apply the fix published by IBM for FTM for Red Hat OpenShift at https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/7288641, following the product-specific upgrade or interim-fix instructions there, since the supplied data does not identify an exact fixed version string for independent confirmation. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, confirm with the platform and OpenShift teams which IBM Financial Transaction Manager for Red Hat OpenShift instances run the PayDir Business Rules Manager, and verify that its RMI SSL endpoint is not reachable from any adjacent or shared network segment, partner link, or other untrusted zone; where exposure cannot be immediately ruled out, restrict access with network segmentation and firewall rules to only the hosts that legitimately require it. …
