AV:N/AC:H/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N
AC:H because attacker needs MITM/rogue-server position plus app-initiated LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE of a sensitive file; PR:N as connector processes the packet without authenticating the server; C:L only (single preselected file), no I/A impact.

MariaDB Connector/J is used to connect applications developed in Java to MariaDB and MySQL databases. Prior to 2.7.14, 3.3.5, 3.4.3, and 3.5.9, ClientMessage.readPacket processes a server-initiated LOCAL INFILE protocol packet 0xfb without enforcing allowLocalInfile=false. When an application sends a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE COM_QUERY, a rogue or man-in-the-middle server can echo the same filename and cause the connector to transmit that file despite the disabled option. The server cannot redirect the request to an arbitrary path and can receive only the exact file already selected by the application, so exploitation requires an application that actively loads sensitive data over an untrusted connection. This issue is fixed in versions 2.7.14, 3.3.5, 3.4.3, and 3.5.9.
AnalysisAI
MariaDB Connector/J versions prior to 2.7.14, 3.3.5, 3.4.3, and 3.5.9 can be tricked into transmitting a locally selected file to a rogue or man-in-the-middle database server even when the allowLocalInfile option is explicitly set to false, because the connector processes a server-initiated LOCAL INFILE packet (0xfb) without honoring that setting. The exposure is narrow: the attacker can only receive the exact file the application already chose to load via a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE COM_QUERY, cannot redirect the request to an arbitrary path, and gains nothing unless the application organically loads sensitive data over an untrusted connection - so this is a low-severity (CVSS 3.7), highly conditional information-disclosure issue rather than a widespread threat. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires ALL of: (1) a MariaDB Connector/J version prior to 2.7.14/3.3.5/3.4.3/3.5.9; (2) an attacker who controls the database server or holds a man-in-the-middle position on the connection (e.g., no TLS or defeated TLS); and (3) the victim application actively issuing a LOAD DATA LOCAL INFILE COM_QUERY that references a sensitive local file - the flaw only surfaces the exact file the application already selected and cannot be redirected to arbitrary paths. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuinely low-priority, high-conditionality issue rather than a widespread threat. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade MariaDB Connector/J to the vendor-released patched version appropriate for your line: 2.7.14 for the 2.x series, or 3.3.5, 3.4.3, or 3.5.9 for the 3.x series (reference the advisory https://github.com/mariadb-corporation/mariadb-connector-j/security/advisories/GHSA-wxmm-q36w-r9xj and the fix commit https://github.com/mariadb-corporation/mariadb-connector-j/commit/0205d8be947918566cd9ce5a9db149541bbc8dee, included in the 3.5.9 tag). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
