| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires the attacker to have captured a valid request to SCG's token-issuance flow (e.g., via network interception), which can then be replayed with no authentication, no user interaction, and no per-request nonce or time limit to stop it. The limiting factor is obtaining that initial captured request; the vulnerable window is otherwise unbounded because replays succeed indefinitely. Affected only on SCG 5.0 Appliance before 5.36.00.16 and SCG 5.0 Application before 5.36.00.00. |
| Impact | The vendor CVSS of 9.8 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/C:H/I:H/A:H) reflects unauthenticated network access yielding full ADMIN compromise, which is directionally correct for impact. However, the described attack requires the adversary to first obtain a captured valid request, which is a real precondition (interception/observation of legitimate traffic) that the AC:L rating does not account for - a more honest assessment raises attack complexity to AC:H and lowers the score to roughly 8.1, though impact remains high once a request is captured. There is no EPSS figure, no POC, and no KEV listing supplied, so there is no evidence of active or automated exploitation yet; the risk is high-impact-but-not-yet-proven-exploited. Any operator running SCG 5.0 should still treat this as urgent because the replay is indefinite and grants admin, and once a valid request is captured the barrier to full takeover collapses. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker positioned to observe traffic to an internet- or network-reachable SCG 5.0 gateway captures a single legitimate token-request. They replay that request to the gateway and receive valid ADMIN access and refresh tokens, then replay again as needed for durable administrative control - all without any credentials. No public exploit is identified at time of analysis. |

Unauthorized ADMIN access in Dell Secure Connect Gateway (SCG) 5.0 allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to replay a previously captured request indefinitely, forging ADMIN-level access and refresh tokens. Because the token-issuing flow performs no nonce validation and enforces no request expiry, a single intercepted request grants durable administrative control of the gateway. The Appliance edition is affected before 5.36.00.16 and the Application edition before 5.36.00.00; no public exploit identified at time of analysis, and it is not listed in CISA KEV.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade the SCG 5.0 Appliance to 5.36.00.16 or later and the SCG 5.0 Application to 5.36.00.00 or later, per Dell advisory DSA-2026-382 (https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-in/000503426/dsa-2026-382-security-update-for-dell-secure-connect-gateway-virtual-edition-multiple-vulnerabilities). Until patched, restrict network reachability of the gateway's management/token endpoints to trusted management networks and enforce TLS with no downgrade to reduce the chance an attacker can capture a replayable request; because the root cause is absence of nonce/expiry validation, no configuration toggle fully mitigates it, so network isolation is a stopgap only. Rotate/invalidate any ADMIN tokens and monitor for anomalous or duplicated token-issuance requests as a compensating detection, accepting that isolation may impede legitimate remote-support connectivity.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Dell Secure Connect Gateway is a support/telemetry gateway (virtual edition) that brokers monitoring and remote-support connectivity between Dell enterprise infrastructure and Dell backend services. The flaw is CWE-345 (Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity): the authentication/token-issuance endpoint accepts a request without binding it to a one-time nonce or a timestamp/expiry, so the request is not verified as fresh or single-use. As a result the request is a reusable bearer artifact - replaying the same captured payload repeatedly returns valid ADMIN access and refresh tokens. Per CPE the affected components are cpe:2.3:a:dell:secure_connect_gateway_5.0_-_application and cpe:2.3:a:dell:secure_connect_gateway_5.0_-_appliance.

Lifecycle Timeline
2DescriptionCVE.org
Dell SCG 5.0 Appliance versions prior to 5.36.00.16 and Dell SCG 5.0 Application versions prior to 5.36.00.00, contains an Insufficient Verification of Data Authenticity vulnerability. An unauthenticated attacker with remote access could exploit this, leading to unauthorized access. This vulnerability is considered critical as an unauthenticated attacker can repeatedly reuse a captured request to generate ADMIN access and refresh tokens. Since there is no nonce validation or time limit on requests, the attack can be performed indefinitely. Dell recommends customers to upgrade at the earliest opportunity
Executive ViewAI
Dell Secure Connect Gateway (Appliance edition before 5.36.00.16, Application edition before 5.36.00.00) is vulnerable to token replay attacks allowing unauthenticated remote attackers to forge permanent administrative access by replaying a captured authentication request. No public exploit has been identified at time of analysis. This vulnerability critically undermines gateway security and could grant attackers durable control over organizations' secure remote access infrastructure and all connected systems.
Apply vendor patch. Interim mitigations if patching is delayed: implement network segmentation to restrict gateway access to trusted sources only, enable detailed audit logging of all token-issuance and administrative events, and monitor for administrative sessions originating from unexpected source IPs.
