Admin access (PR:H) is required, but once held, crafting a valid nginx config injection is straightforward (AC:L); no scope change as impact stays within the gateway.
Primary rating from Vendor (okta).

2DescriptionCVE.org
The Okta Access Gateway does not sanitize the application label field before including it in the generated nginx configuration file. The unsanitized value is interpolated into an nginx server block directive, resulting in execution of injected directives.
AnalysisAI
Configuration injection in Okta Access Gateway (all versions before 2026.9.1) allows a high-privileged authenticated attacker to embed arbitrary nginx directives into the gateway's auto-generated nginx server block configuration by placing unsanitized payload in the application label field. Once the configuration is regenerated and nginx reloads, the injected directives execute within the nginx context, enabling full server compromise including code execution, credential interception, and proxy manipulation. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires valid Okta Access Gateway administrator credentials (PR:H) with permission to create or modify application entries, specifically the application label field in the OAG admin interface. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The provided CVSS 3.1 vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:H/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H yields 6.6, reflecting that exploitation requires high-privilege credentials (PR:H) and moderate attack complexity (AC:H). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Okta Access Gateway to version 2026.9.1 or later, which is the vendor-confirmed patched release per the EUVD affected-version range. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
