AC:H reflects specific pre-conditions (attacker must control a registered OAuth client the victim has consented to); UI:R is required for the initial consent grant enabling exploitation.

n8n is an open source workflow automation platform. Prior to 2.37.7 and 2.38.1, the OAuth token endpoint bound an authorization code's first access token to the consented resource but did not bind its refresh token. Refreshing checked only that the requested resource was registered, not that it matched the original grant. An OAuth client approved for one workflow could substitute a different workflow URL in the resource parameter and obtain a valid token for an unapproved workflow accessible to the consenting user. This issue is fixed in versions 2.37.7 and 2.38.1.
AnalysisAI
Incorrect OAuth refresh token resource binding in n8n prior to 2.37.7 and 2.38.1 allows an attacker controlling a registered OAuth client to obtain valid access tokens for workflows they were never authorized to access. The first access token issued after user consent was correctly bound to the consented workflow resource, but the accompanying refresh token was not - at refresh time n8n only checked that the requested resource was a registered workflow, not that it matched the original consent grant. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires two specific pre-conditions: (1) the attacker must control a registered OAuth client application on the target n8n instance, and (2) a target user must have previously completed the OAuth authorization consent flow, granting that client access to at least one workflow. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.9 with vector AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:N/UI:A accurately captures a constrained but exploitable authorization flaw. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade n8n to version 2.37.7 (2.37.x branch) or 2.38.1 (2.38.x branch), both of which enforce resource parameter binding at refresh token validation time. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
