Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires possession of at least one valid authenticated session on the target go-wind-cms instance - the account's assigned role and tenant membership are irrelevant because the authorization check is unconditionally bypassed. The attacker must have network access to the application's API layer. The flaw is present in the default code path and does not require any non-standard configuration to trigger. What limits exploitation: (1) the attacker must hold a valid account (PR:L per CVSS vector), meaning entirely unauthenticated external attackers cannot exploit this directly; (2) if the application restricts self-registration, the attacker must obtain credentials through another means (phishing, credential stuffing, or an insider). There are no platform-specific, OS-specific, or feature-toggle prerequisites - any deployment of go-wind-cms before 1.0.0 is vulnerable by default.

Impact

The CVSS 8.8 score is consistent with the described impact: network-reachable (AV:N), low complexity (AC:L), low-privilege authentication required (PR:L), no user interaction (UI:N), and full confidentiality, integrity, and availability impact. The real-world risk is meaningfully elevated by the existence of a publicly available proof-of-concept, which lowers the technical bar for exploitation substantially. However, the PR:L requirement means unauthenticated access is not sufficient - an attacker must first obtain any valid account on the target instance. No CISA KEV listing is present, and EPSS data was not provided in the input, so exploitation probability cannot be quantitatively benchmarked. The scope is unchanged (S:U), confining blast radius to the vulnerable CMS instance. For multi-tenant deployments or applications where user account self-registration is permitted, the practical barrier to reaching a low-privilege session is minimal, making the effective risk closer to the theoretical maximum. For tightly controlled single-tenant deployments, the requirement for a valid session provides some real-world friction.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker registers or otherwise obtains any valid low-privilege account on a go-wind-cms instance, then directly invokes an administrative API endpoint - such as the user deletion or password reset route - with a standard authenticated HTTP request. Because NewAuthorizer() returns noop.State{}, the authz middleware approves the request without evaluating the caller's role, and the server executes the privileged operation. A publicly available proof-of-concept at https://github.com/TKar0/TKar0-CvePoc/tree/main/2026-CVE-POC/CVE-2026-75419 demonstrates this attack path.

AnalysisAIv1 – Aug 27, 2026

go-wind-cms (GoWind) before 1.0.0 exposes all administrative APIs to any authenticated user because NewAuthorizer() returns a no-operation authorization engine (noop.State{}), rendering the authz middleware completely inert. Any account holder - regardless of assigned role or tenant membership - can invoke privileged operations including user deletion, password resets, and tenant creation. A publicly available proof-of-concept exploit exists; no confirmed active exploitation (CISA KEV) has been identified at time of analysis.

RemediationAI

Upgrade go-wind-cms to version 1.0.0 or later, which is the stated fix boundary per the vulnerability description and upstream GitHub issue at https://github.com/tx7do/go-wind-cms/issues/23. The patched version should replace noop.State{} with a functional authorization engine in both affected data.go files. If an immediate upgrade is not feasible, restrict network access to administrative API endpoints at the reverse-proxy or API gateway layer - for example, block routes prefixed with /admin to requests not originating from trusted internal IP ranges or authenticated administrative sessions enforced externally. Additionally, audit existing user accounts for unauthorized administrative actions (tenant creations, password resets) that may have already occurred. Note that network-layer controls do not remediate the underlying code defect and should be treated as temporary compensating measures only. A released tagged version at 1.0.0 has not been independently verified beyond the description's stated boundary.

Technical ContextAI · show details

go-wind-cms is a Go-based content management system. The flaw resides in two parallel implementations of NewAuthorizer(): app/admin/service/internal/data/data.go and app/app/service/internal/data/data.go. Both return noop.State{} - a built-in no-operation stub from the authz library that approves every authorization check unconditionally. The downstream middleware consuming this engine therefore never enforces role-based or tenant-based access control. Although the CWE field is unassigned in the input data, this pattern corresponds to CWE-862 (Missing Authorization) and CWE-285 (Improper Authorization): the authorization infrastructure exists and is wired into the request path, but is functionally disabled at the engine level. CPE enumeration in NVD is listed as cpe:2.3:a:n/a:n/a:*, indicating automated scanner coverage will be unreliable for this product.

DescriptionCVE.org

go-wind-cms (GoWind) before 1.0.0 has a missing authorization vulnerability. The NewAuthorizer() function in app/admin/service/internal/data/data.go and app/app/service/internal/data/data.go returns a no-op authorization engine (noop.State{}), so the authz middleware always allows requests. Any authenticated user (regardless of role or tenant) can invoke administrative APIs such as deleting users, resetting passwords, and creating tenants.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

GoWind CMS versions before 1.0.0 contain a critical authorization bypass flaw that treats all authenticated users as administrators, creating unrestricted access to user management, password controls, and system configuration functions-with publicly available exploit code documented at time of analysis. Any employee with CMS access can delete users, reset passwords, or create new tenants, exposing the organization to unauthorized administrative action by insiders or through compromised credentials. Immediate network-based access restrictions and audit controls are essential pending vendor patching.

Business Impact: High
Compensating Controls

Restrict administrative API endpoints to known administrative IP addresses using firewall rules or WAF policies; implement real-time monitoring and alerting for all administrative API calls including user creation/deletion, password resets, and tenant operations; enforce multi-factor authentication for all administrative accounts; segment administrative users into restricted network zones with limited API access; disable direct API access and require all administrative operations through the authenticated web UI with enhanced request logging and approval workflows.
