Information disclosure in the Windows Network Policy Server (NPS) SNMP component allows a remote, unauthenticated attacker to read out-of-bounds memory over the network and disclose sensitive process data. The flaw affects a broad range of Windows client and server releases, from Windows 10 1607 and Windows Server 2012 through Windows 11 26H1 and Windows Server 2025. It was reported by Microsoft, a vendor patch is available, and no public exploit has been identified at time of analysis (not listed in CISA KEV).

DescriptionCVE.org
Out-of-bounds read in Windows Network Policy Server SNMP allows an unauthorized attacker to disclose information over a network.
Executive ViewAI
A remote information disclosure vulnerability in the Windows Network Policy Server (NPS) SNMP component allows unauthorized extraction of sensitive process memory from millions of Windows systems spanning client and server versions without requiring credentials or user interaction. Affected systems range from Windows 10 1607 through Windows 11 26H1 and Windows Server 2012 through 2025, creating a broad organizational attack surface. This flaw directly threatens data confidentiality and regulatory compliance across all Windows infrastructure.
Within 24 hours, identify all systems running Windows 10 (1607-26H1) or Windows Server (2012-2025) with SNMP or NPS services enabled, segregate externally-facing instances, and initiate deployment of the vendor-released security patch. Within 7 days, complete patching of all systems in DMZ or untrusted network zones and disable SNMP services where not operationally required. Within 30 days, achieve 100% remediation across all infrastructure and validate through network scanning that SNMP access is restricted to authorized administrative channels only.
Apply vendor patch.

Attack Technique
A buffer overflow occurs when a program writes more data to a memory buffer than it was allocated to hold, causing the excess data to spill into adjacent memory regions.
Information disclosure occurs when an application unintentionally exposes sensitive data that aids attackers in reconnaissance or directly compromises security.
