MITRE ATT&CK
2 techniques across 2 tactics: Collection, Discovery The technique list with ATT&CK links and the kill-chain view is part of the Basic plan and up. |
| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires: (1) an authenticated Parse Server client (PR:L); (2) the application using LiveQuery with a $or operator in its subscription query; and (3) reliance on query constraints sitting next to that $or for isolation - specifically the server-added owner filter on _Session subscriptions, or a constraint injected by a beforeSubscribe trigger. A second (victim) client must be concurrently subscribed to the same class such that its subscription is grouped with the attacker's by the flawed hash (reflected as AT:P). LIMITING FACTORS: isolation enforced by ACL, class-level permissions, or protected fields is still applied per client and is NOT bypassed - only isolation that exists solely in query constraints is lost; the attacker must already be authenticated; and only affected Parse Server versions (>=9.0.0 <9.10.5-alpha.4, and <=8.6.102) are vulnerable. |
| Impact | This is a credible but conditional priority, not a drop-everything emergency. The CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:H) shows a network-reachable, low-complexity flaw that nonetheless requires authentication (PR:L) and carries an attack requirement (AT:P) - consistent with the vendor description, which depends on another user concurrently holding a subscription that gets grouped with the attacker's. Confidentiality impact is high because leaked _Session events can contain session tokens usable for impersonation, which effectively escalates a read into account takeover; integrity and availability base impacts are none. No EPSS score was provided, there is no CISA KEV listing, and no public exploit was supplied - only vendor/coordinator advisories (GitHub GHSA and VulnCheck). The vuln.today decision label is 'this_month' and a patch is available, which aligns with a real-but-targeted rather than mass-exploited profile. Key missing signals: EPSS probability is absent so widespread automated exploitation cannot be estimated, and no working PoC is confirmed. Net: a genuine issue for anyone running LiveQuery with $or subscriptions and relying on query constraints for isolation, meriting prompt patching this cycle, but gated by the authenticated-plus-concurrent-victim precondition. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An authenticated client opens a LiveQuery subscription on the _Session class (or a class whose isolation is added by a beforeSubscribe trigger) using a $or query. Because the subscription hash omits the server-added owner filter sitting next to the $or, the attacker's subscription is grouped with another user's, and the attacker begins receiving that user's events - including session tokens - which can then be replayed to impersonate the victim. No public exploit identified at time of analysis; exploitation requires a valid client session and a victim with a matching grouped subscription (AT:P). |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 25, 2026
LiveQuery subscription isolation fails in Parse Server (versions 9.0.0 up to 9.10.5-alpha.4 and 8.x through 8.6.102), allowing an authenticated client to receive LiveQuery events that belong to another user - including _Session events carrying session tokens that can be used to impersonate the victim. The flaw only manifests when an application uses a $or operator in its subscription query and depends on constraints placed next to that $or for isolation, such as the server-added owner filter on _Session or a constraint injected by a beforeSubscribe trigger, and it additionally requires a second client to be concurrently subscribed so the two subscriptions get grouped by the flawed hash. This is a conditional, configuration-dependent information disclosure rather than a universal authentication bypass: ACLs, class-level permissions and protected fields are still enforced per client, so only isolation that lives purely in query constraints is lost. No public exploit code has been identified and the issue is not in CISA KEV; the vendor has released fixes and the overall priority is to schedule patching this month.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Parse Server 9.10.5-alpha.4 (9.x) or 8.6.103 (8.x), which derives the subscription hash from the complete subscription query so constraints next to $or - including the server-added _Session owner filter and beforeSubscribe constraints - become part of the hash; the corresponding fixes are pull requests 10776 (9.x branch) and 10777 (8.x branch) referenced from advisory GHSA-349r-988w-x3jp. If an immediate upgrade is not possible, the vendor's documented workaround is to stop relying on query constraints for isolation: enforce protection on sensitive classes through ACLs and class-level permissions instead, and specifically avoid subscribing to the _Session class with a $or query, since that is the path that leaks session tokens; generally avoiding $or in any subscription query whose isolation depends on sibling constraints removes the exposure. The trade-off is that these workarounds require changes to client subscription patterns and to your data model's permission setup, and they leave the flawed hashing in place, so upgrading remains the recommended and complete fix.

Technical ContextAI · show details
Parse Server's LiveQuery engine deduplicates event delivery by hashing each subscription's query; subscriptions sharing a hash are grouped and every incoming event is matched once per group against the first subscriber's query. The hash construction only covered the branches of a $or operator and dropped sibling constraints - including constraints that Parse Server itself injects, namely the owner filter applied to _Session subscriptions and any constraint appended by a beforeSubscribe trigger. Two subscriptions that differ solely in those sibling constraints therefore collide into one group and the wrong client can be served another client's events. The weakness is classified CWE-200 (Exposure of Sensitive Information); because the leaked payloads for _Session subscriptions contain session tokens, disclosure of the token translates into account impersonation, but the underlying defect is a broken query-identity/hash normalization problem rather than an authorization check failure. The assessed severity reflects that the attack path is remote and network-based but requires a non-default deployment (LiveQuery with $or queries and constraint-based isolation), an already authenticated attacker, and a concurrently subscribed victim whose subscription collides with the attacker's, giving AC:H and AT:P characteristics.

Authenticated client (PR:L) over the network; AC:H because exploitation needs a victim concurrently subscribed to a grouped query; high confidentiality from leaked session tokens, no direct integrity/availability base impact.

1DescriptionCVE.org
Parse Server before 8.6.103 and 9.0.0 before 9.10.5-alpha.4 contains an information disclosure vulnerability in LiveQuery. Its subscription hash omits constraints next to a $or operator, including the _Session owner filter and beforeSubscribe constraints, so distinct subscriptions are grouped together. Authenticated clients subscribing with $or queries can receive other users' events, including session tokens usable for impersonation.
