Authenticated network attacker (PR:L) reliably reproduces the documented cwd bypass once known (AC:L); full RCE on the host gives C/I/A:H with no scope change beyond the vulnerable process.

Flowise before 3.1.4 contains a validation bypass vulnerability in MCP server configuration allowing authenticated attackers remote code execution through an unvalidated cwd parameter. Attackers can bypass path validation using clean filenames in the args array while controlling the working directory to execute malicious code.
AnalysisAI
Authenticated remote code execution affects Flowise versions before 3.1.4 through a validation bypass in MCP server configuration nodes: the path validation routine inspects the clean filename passed in the args array but never checks the cwd (working directory) parameter, so an account able to create or modify an MCP server node can point the working directory at attacker-controlled content and have the spawned process execute it. Publicly available exploit code exists, and the independent assessment rates the vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H (vendor score 9.0 under CVSS 4.0), meaning full confidentiality, integrity and availability loss once the low-privileged authentication prerequisite is satisfied. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires an authenticated Flowise account (PR:L) with access to create or modify MCP server configuration nodes. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine priority for any organization running Flowise, but its severity depends heavily on the authentication prerequisite. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Apply the vendor patch by upgrading Flowise to 3.1.4 or later, which closes the cwd validation bypass in MCP server configuration; the fix and affected-range confirmation are documented in GHSA-x7x8-95gh-42xm (https://github.com/FlowiseAI/Flowise/security/advisories/GHSA-x7x8-95gh-42xm) and the VulnCheck advisory (https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/flowise-before-3.1.4-remote-code-execution-via-cwd-parameter), and until the upgrade can be scheduled treat the issue as high priority because technical impact is total (C:H/I:H/A:H) once an authenticated user reaches the node editor. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory all Flowise instances, determine which run versions before 3.1.4, and temporarily restrict or closely monitor accounts with permission to create or edit MCP server configuration nodes. …
