| Exploitation Conditions | Exploitation requires that the target OpenCart store has the Sipay Electronic Money and Payment Services Virtual POS Module installed and active at a version from 26.8.2 up to (but not including) 26.9.1, with its payment-callback/token-verification endpoint reachable over the network. The core precondition is that the module's signature-verification routine improperly validates the cryptographic signature (CWE-347), so an attacker can submit a forged or tampered signed token (e.g. a JWT) and have it accepted. Limiting factors: exploitation is constrained to deployments running this specific vulnerable module and version range; stores on 26.9.1+ or not using this module are unaffected. Per CVSS PR:N/UI:N no authentication or user interaction is needed, so there is no credential or victim-interaction barrier beyond network reachability of the vulnerable endpoint. |
| Impact | The input CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H, base 9.8) describes a network-reachable, low-complexity, unauthenticated flaw, and the CWE-347 classification plus the 'Jwt Attack' and 'Information Disclosure' tags point to a cryptographic-signature verification bypass - most plausibly JWT signature spoofing in the Sipay payment callback/token flow. If exploitable as scored, an attacker could forge a trusted signed message (e.g. a payment-confirmation token) without credentials, which is a genuinely serious integrity issue for a payment module. However, the risk signals are incomplete and partly inconsistent: no EPSS probability, no CISA KEV listing, and no public POC were provided, so there is no evidence of real-world exploitation - this is a high-CVSS issue without corroborating exploitation signals, suggesting it should be patched promptly but is not yet a confirmed active-attack priority. Note also a likely overstatement in the input vector: a signature-spoofing/JWT bypass most naturally yields integrity and confidentiality impact, not high availability impact, so the A:H component (and thus the 9.8 total) should be verified against the vendor/CERT advisory. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An unauthenticated remote attacker crafts a forged JWT or signed payment message with a spoofed/invalid signature that the module fails to properly verify, causing it to accept the forged token as authentic. The attacker uses this to impersonate a legitimate Sipay payment callback - for example asserting a successful payment that never occurred, or extracting information carried in the token. No public exploit code was identified at time of analysis, and low attack complexity (AC:L) means a working forgery requires no special timing or environmental conditions. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Oct 09, 2026
Signature spoofing in the Sipay Electronic Money and Payment Services OpenCart Virtual POS Module (versions 26.8.2 up to but not including 26.9.1) lets unauthenticated remote attackers bypass cryptographic signature verification and submit forged or tampered payment tokens, most plausibly spoofed JWTs in the payment callback/token-verification flow, which can expose payment data and permit unauthorized manipulation of transaction processing. The flaw is network-reachable with no authentication or user interaction required (CVSS 3.1 vector AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N, CWE-347), and an independent assessment narrows the impact to high confidentiality and integrity loss without an availability component, giving a 9.1-equivalent severity rather than the originally cited 9.8. At time of analysis there is no public exploit identified and the issue is not listed in CISA KEV, but exploitation requires only that a store runs the vulnerable module version with its callback endpoint reachable. Reported by TR-CERT; a vendor fix is available in 26.9.1.
RemediationAI
Upgrade the Sipay OpenCart Virtual POS Module to version 26.9.1 or later - this is the vendor-released fix and the only complete remediation - and verify the module version in the OpenCart extension manager after updating, following the TR-CERT advisory at https://siberguvenlik.gov.tr/guvenlik-bildirimleri/detay/tr-26-1286. Until the upgrade can be applied, the most effective compensating control is to disable or uninstall the module entirely, since a disabled module removes the vulnerable callback endpoint; the trade-off is that Sipay virtual POS payments stop working on that store. If payments must continue, restrict network access to the module's payment-callback/token-verification endpoint (via web-server or WAF rules) so that only Sipay's published source addresses can reach it - this reduces the attack surface but can break legitimate callbacks if the address list is incomplete or changes. As an additional detective measure, review logs for unexpected or malformed JWT/signature-bearing callback requests and reconcile order and payment statuses for anomalies, and treat any suspected bypass as a key-compromise scenario by rotating the module's signing/API secrets with the provider. Note that signature-spoofing flaws cannot be mitigated by obscuring URLs or relying on TLS alone, because the attack is valid at the application layer.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The vulnerability is an instance of CWE-347, Improper Verification of Cryptographic Signature, in the Sipay Electronic Money and Payment Services Inc. OpenCart Virtual POS Module - a payment gateway integration plugin for the OpenCart e-commerce platform. Per the CPE data (cpe:2.3:a:sipay_electronic_money_and_payment_services_inc.:opencart_virtual_pos_module) and the accompanying tags ('Information Disclosure', 'JWT Attack'), the affected component is the module's payment-callback and token-verification logic, which accepts signed tokens (JWTs) from the payment provider and must cryptographically validate their signatures before trusting claims such as order identifiers, payment status, or amount. Because the verification routine does not correctly validate the signature, an attacker who understands the token format can construct an arbitrary token - for example by altering the payload to mark an order as paid or to reference a different transaction - and have it accepted as authentic. The underlying weakness is validation logic that is either absent, uses an incorrect algorithm or key, or compares signatures in a manner that does not bind the token to the expected signer, so the trust anchor of the payment flow collapses. No authentication or user interaction is required per the CVSS vector (PR:N/UI:N), so the only precondition is network reachability of the vulnerable endpoint on a store running an affected version.

Improper verification of cryptographic signature vulnerability in Sipay Electronic Money and Payment Services Inc. OpenCart Virtual POS Module allows Signature Spoofing by Improper Validation.
This issue affects OpenCart Virtual POS Module: from 26.8.2 before 26.9.1.
Executive ViewAI
A critical signature-verification flaw in the Sipay Electronic Money and Payment Services OpenCart Virtual POS Module (versions 26.8.2 up to, but not including, 26.9.1) lets unauthenticated internet attackers forge payment tokens and tamper with transaction processing on any store running the affected module with a reachable payment callback endpoint. Because this module sits directly in the payment path, exploitation could expose customer payment data, permit fraudulent or altered transactions, and jeopardize the organization's PCI DSS compliance and merchant relationships. No vendor-released patch is identified at time of analysis and no public exploit identified at time of analysis, but the flaw requires no credentials or user interaction to reach, making it a priority for every merchant relying on this integration.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: disable or suspend the Sipay Virtual POS Module where the integration is not essential; restrict the payment callback/token-verification endpoint to Sipay's published source IP ranges via firewall or WAF allowlisting; enforce strict JWT validation upstream (algorithm allowlist, reject unsigned/'none' tokens, validate kid, issuer, audience, and expiry against Sipay's published certificates); apply rate limiting, integrity alerting, and transaction-log monitoring on the callback route; rotate signing keys, merchant credentials, and API secrets; and watch for forged, replayed, or duplicated payment tokens until a vendor fix is obtained.
