Remote, no auth or interaction, low-complexity trigger against default config; integrity/availability low because impact is request-boundary corruption gated on a front-end intermediary, no confidentiality primitive proven.

DescriptionCVE.org

Sanic is an opensource python web server/framework. In version 25.12.0, Sanic's core HTTP/1.1 chunked-body handling does not fully consume the trailer-part after the terminating zero chunk before reusing the keep-alive connection buffer. A remote unauthenticated client can place attacker-controlled bytes in that trailer region, causing Sanic to parse and route them as a hidden second request after the outer request. This breaks HTTP request-boundary integrity and can provide a request-smuggling primitive when Sanic is deployed behind intermediaries. This issue is fixed in version 25.12.1.

AnalysisAI

Chunked-transfer request smuggling in Sanic allows a remote unauthenticated attacker to plant a hidden second HTTP request inside the trailer-part of a chunked request, which Sanic then parses and routes as a genuine backend request on the same keep-alive connection. Affected versions are all releases before 24.12.1 and the 25.12.0 release (fixed in 24.12.1 and 25.12.1); the defect triggers on default configuration, with CVSS 3.1 scoring 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L) reflecting a request-boundary integrity failure rather than direct data compromise. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Requires Sanic 25.12.0 (or any version < 24.12.1) serving HTTP/1.1 over a reused keep-alive connection; the attacker sends a chunked-transfer-encoded request and plants a full second request in the trailer-part after the terminating 0-chunk. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment This is a genuine, verifiable HTTP request-smuggling flaw (CWE-444) in Sanic's core HTTP/1.1 chunked-body parser, rated Medium at CVSS 6.5 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation Vendor-released patch: upgrade to Sanic 25.12.1 for the 25.x line, or to 24.12.1 if you are on 24.x - both releases contain the parser fix that rejects a non-empty chunked trailer-part by raising BadRequest and closing the keep-alive connection (PRs https://github.com/sanic-org/sanic/pull/3164 and https://github.com/sanic-org/sanic/pull/3165; release notes at https://github.com/sanic-org/sanic/releases/tag/v25.12.1 and https://github.com/sanic-org/sanic/releases/tag/v24.12.1). … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
