Network-reachable via MCP endpoint (AV:N), but exploitation requires user-initiated connection (UI:R) and low-privilege application access (PR:L); impact is limited and unscoped (S:U, C:L/I:L/A:L).
Primary rating from Vendor (VulDB).

4DescriptionCVE.org
A security vulnerability has been detected in RooCodeInc Roo-Code up to 3.51.1. This affects the function fetch_instructions of the file malicious_mcp_server.py of the component MCP Integration Trust Model. The manipulation leads to code injection. The attack is possible to be carried out remotely. The exploit has been disclosed publicly and may be used. Multiple isses were reported to the vendor beforehand. They explain, that "they all apply to Roo Code, a project we no longer support - the repository was archived a while ago, and we don't encourage anyone to use it." This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
AnalysisAI
Code injection in RooCodeInc Roo-Code up to version 3.51.1 allows a remote low-privileged attacker to execute injected code via the fetch_instructions function within the MCP (Model Context Protocol) Integration Trust Model component (malicious_mcp_server.py). A publicly available proof-of-concept exploit exists on GitHub. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires that Roo-Code's MCP integration is active and that the targeted user connects the extension to an attacker-controlled MCP server endpoint - either through direct configuration, a malicious project file specifying a server URI, or social engineering. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 base score of 5.1 (Medium) reflects the realistic constraint profile: AV:N indicates network reachability, but PR:L (low privileges) and UI:P (user interaction required) significantly reduce exploitability compared to a fully unauthenticated, zero-click flaw. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker hosts a malicious MCP server and induces a Roo-Code user - through phishing, a compromised MCP server registry entry, or a crafted project configuration - to connect the extension to that server. When the `fetch_instructions` function retrieves instructions from the attacker-controlled endpoint, the injected payload executes within the Roo-Code process context, granting the attacker code execution with the privileges of the developer running the extension. … |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch is available and none is forthcoming - the vendor has confirmed the product is abandoned and the repository is archived. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
