4DescriptionCVE.org
A weakness has been identified in RooCodeInc Roo-Code up to 3.51.1. Affected by this issue is the function ExecaTerminalProcess of the component README File Handler. Executing a manipulation can lead to code injection. The attack can be executed remotely. The exploit has been made available to the public and could be used for attacks. Multiple isses were reported to the vendor beforehand. They explain, that "they all apply to Roo Code, a project we no longer support - the repository was archived a while ago, and we don't encourage anyone to use it." This vulnerability only affects products that are no longer supported by the maintainer.
AnalysisAI
Code injection in RooCodeInc Roo-Code through version 3.51.1 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code via the ExecaTerminalProcess function in the README File Handler, triggered by passive user interaction with a crafted README file. The vendor has explicitly archived the repository and confirmed no patch will be issued, leaving all installed instances permanently unpatched. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a victim to have Roo-Code version 3.51.1 or earlier installed and to open or process a crafted README file within the extension's context - this is the passive user interaction (UI:P) reflected in the CVSS 4.0 vector. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 base score of 2.1 is strikingly low for a code injection finding tagged RCE, driven primarily by impact ratings of Low across confidentiality, integrity, and availability combined with a required passive user interaction. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | An attacker crafts a repository containing a malicious README file with injected code payloads targeting the ExecaTerminalProcess function, then delivers it to a developer using Roo-Code - for example, via a shared or cloned repository. When the victim's Roo-Code instance processes the README, the injected payload executes in the terminal context without requiring any elevated attacker privileges. … |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch is available and none will be issued; the vendor has explicitly archived the Roo-Code repository and confirmed end of support. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
