DescriptionCVE.org

The Events Made Easy plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Local File Inclusion in all versions up to, and including, 3.2.5 via the eme_single_event_page_template function. This makes it possible for authenticated attackers, with contributor-level access and above, to include and execute arbitrary .php files on the server, allowing the execution of any PHP code in those files. This can be used to bypass access controls, obtain sensitive data, or achieve code execution in cases where .php file types can be uploaded and included. The stored traversal payload is triggered passively when any visitor loads the affected single-event page, meaning post-submission execution does not require additional attacker interaction.

AnalysisAI

Local File Inclusion in Events Made Easy WordPress plugin (all versions through 3.2.5) allows contributor-level authenticated attackers to inject path-traversal payloads into the eme_single_event_page_template function, causing the server to include and execute arbitrary PHP files. The attack is persistent and passive: once a malicious event is saved, the payload fires automatically for any visitor who loads the affected single-event page, requiring no further attacker interaction post-submission. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires an authenticated WordPress account with contributor-level access or higher - unauthenticated exploitation is not possible per the CVSS PR:L metric. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 3.1 score of 7.5 (High) is supported by a vector of AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An attacker registers or compromises a WordPress account with contributor-level privileges, then creates or edits an event post and injects a path-traversal string (e.g., pointing to an uploaded PHP webshell or a sensitive configuration file) into the single-event page template field. Once the event is published, every subsequent visitor to that event's page passively triggers server-side inclusion and execution of the targeted PHP file - giving the attacker persistent, interaction-free code execution without needing to revisit the site. …
Remediation Upstream fix available (PR/commit per WordPress trac changeset https://plugins.trac.wordpress.org/changeset?reponame=&old=3654766%40events-made-easy&new=3654766%40events-made-easy); a released patched version number is not independently confirmed from the available input data - verify the latest version in the WordPress plugin directory and update immediately once a fixed release is confirmed. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours: Disable the Events Made Easy plugin in production; audit event creation logs for the past 90 days and inspect all contributor account activity for suspicious event submissions; document all current contributor-level accounts and their creation dates. …
