DescriptionCVE.org

Integer wraparound in PostgreSQL 32-bit builds of pltcl and plperl allows an object creator to cause the server to undersize an allocation and write out-of-bounds via crafted function bodies. This may execute arbitrary code as the operating system user running the database. CVE-2026-6473 had fixed similar problems. Versions before PostgreSQL 18.5, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 are affected.

AnalysisAI

Integer wraparound in 32-bit builds of PostgreSQL's PL/Tcl and PL/Perl procedural language extensions enables an authenticated object creator to provoke an undersized heap allocation and perform an out-of-bounds write via a crafted function body, ultimately achieving arbitrary code execution as the OS user running the database process. PostgreSQL versions before 18.5, 17.11, 16.15, 15.19, and 14.24 across active major release branches are affected. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires ALL of the following: (1) the target PostgreSQL server must be compiled as a 32-bit binary - 64-bit builds are not affected; (2) the pltcl or plperl procedural language extension must be installed and accessible to the attacker's database user (these are optional, non-default extensions that must be explicitly installed with CREATE EXTENSION or loaded by a superuser); (3) the attacker must hold a database account with at minimum the CREATE FUNCTION privilege or membership in a role that can create objects using pltcl or plperl as the function language. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The provided CVSS 3.1 vector (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H) scores 8.8 and characterizes this as a network-accessible, low-complexity, low-privilege flaw with full impact. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in.
Remediation The primary remediation is upgrading to a patched PostgreSQL release: version 14.24, 15.19, 16.15, 17.11, or 18.5, as appropriate for the installed major version. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.

Recommended ActionAI

Within 24 hours, audit all PostgreSQL instances to identify 32-bit builds and whether PL/Tcl or PL/Perl extensions are enabled; determine if these extensions are operationally required. …
