Exploitation Conditions

Exploitation requires that the victim is actively running the Network-AI DashboardServer (the loopback dashboard) AND is lured into visiting an attacker-controlled web page in a browser on the same host (UI:P). The specific enabling flaw is that handleUpgrade performs no Origin header check and no token/authentication check on the WebSocket upgrade, so any cross-origin page can connect. Limiting factors: the dashboard component must be running at the time of the attack, the victim must load the malicious page, impact is read-only recon of agent topology (no write or disruption), and only versions 5.0.0 up to (not including) 5.15.2 are affected - upgrading to 5.15.2 removes the condition.

Impact

This is a medium-severity information-disclosure issue (CVSS 4.0 base 5.3) whose real-world risk is modest. The CVSS 4.0 vector confirms network reach (AV:N), low attack complexity (AC:L), no privileges (PR:N), but passive user interaction (UI:P) - the victim must already be running the Network-AI dashboard locally and then visit an attacker-controlled page. Impact is confidentiality-only and rated low (VC:L, with VI:N/VA:N), consistent with CWE-1385 (missing standard security check / cross-site WebSocket hijacking): the attacker reads live agent topology (agent IDs, roles, task descriptions, token budgets) but cannot modify or disrupt anything. No EPSS score, KEV listing, or public exploit was provided in the input, so there is no public exploit identified at time of analysis and no evidence of active exploitation. Signals are internally consistent (no CVSS-vs-description conflict), so there is no high-urgency flag here: this is a legitimate privacy/recon weakness but not a widespread-exploitation priority, especially given the niche product footprint and the UI requirement that bounds mass exploitation.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An attacker hosts a malicious web page and lures a user who is running the Network-AI dashboard on their machine into visiting it. Because DashboardServer's handleUpgrade validates neither the Origin header nor a token, the page silently opens a WebSocket back to the victim's loopback dashboard and streams out agent IDs, roles, task descriptions, and token budgets. No public exploit code was identified in the provided data; exploitation is cross-origin and low-complexity but requires the victim to actively load the attacker's page.

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 12, 2026

Cross-site WebSocket hijacking in Network-AI (vendor: jovancoding) versions 5.0.0 up to but not including 5.15.2 lets an attacker-controlled web page open a WebSocket to the victim's loopback DashboardServer and read live agent topology - agent IDs, roles, task descriptions and token budgets. The upgrade handler performs no Origin or token check, so the connection is unauthenticated (CVSS PR:N), but exploitation still requires the victim to be actively running the dashboard and to be lured into loading a malicious page in a browser on the same host (UI:P), which keeps the CVSS 4.0 base score at 5.3 and our re-scored CVSS 3.1 at AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:R/S:U/C:L/I:N/A:N. Impact is confined to read-only reconnaissance - no write, disruption or code-execution component - and no public exploit code was identified at time of analysis.

RemediationAI

The vendor-released fix is Network-AI 5.15.2 or later: upgrading to 5.15.2 removes the vulnerable condition by closing the unvalidated upgrade path, so treat 5.15.2 as the minimum safe version and verify the running build reports 5.15.2+ before considering the finding closed. If the upgrade cannot be applied immediately, the most effective compensating control is to keep DashboardServer stopped unless it is actively being watched, since the attack has no effect when the dashboard is not listening; where the dashboard must stay up, front it with a reverse proxy that rejects WebSocket upgrade requests lacking an expected Origin header, or add/require an authentication token on the upgrade - the trade-off being that token enforcement can break browser-based dashboards that cannot set custom headers, and proxy rules must be maintained per deployment. Additional reductions: restrict the browser session that views the dashboard to a dedicated profile with no other tabs or navigation, and do not browse arbitrary sites in the same browser profile while the dashboard is running. Technical ContextAI · show details

The issue is a textbook CWE-1385 (Missing Origin Validation in WebSockets) flaw in the DashboardServer component that backs Network-AI's live agent-topology dashboard. WebSocket handshakes are ordinary HTTP GET requests with an Upgrade header, and browsers deliberately do not apply the same-origin policy to them; instead the browser sends an Origin header and the server is expected to validate it (and, in this design, to require a session token). Network-AI's handleUpgrade routine does neither, so it completes the 101 Switching Protocols response for any origin, including a page served from an attacker's domain. Because the dashboard listens on loopback rather than a network interface, the attack is cross-site rather than remote in the classic sense: the victim's own browser acts as the transport, opening ws://127.0.0.1:<dashboard port> from the malicious page and then reading the streamed agent state directly from the attacker's JavaScript. This is consistent with the CVSS:4.0 vector CVSS:4.0/AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:P/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N (low confidentiality, no integrity or availability impact) and with the CPE cpe:2.3:a:jovancoding:network-ai:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* plus the Information Disclosure tag supplied by VulnCheck. There is no memory-safety, injection, or privilege-escalation primitive involved - the entire exposure is the missing authorization gate on the WebSocket upgrade.

DescriptionCVE.org

Network-AI 5.0.0 before 5.15.2 contains a cross-site WebSocket hijacking vulnerability in DashboardServer that allows remote attackers to read live agent topology because handleUpgrade performs no Origin or token validation. Attackers can lure a victim running the dashboard to a malicious page that opens a WebSocket to the loopback dashboard and exfiltrates agent IDs, roles, task descriptions, and token budgets.
