Exploitation Conditions

Requires an authenticated session with privileges to create or configure a data source in DataEase (versions through 2.10.13). The specific trigger is the H2 connection handler's getJdbc logic: validation only checks that jdbcUrl starts with 'jdbc:h2', but the connection actually uses a separate 'jdbc' field - so the attacker sets jdbcUrl='jdbc:h2...' to pass the check while supplying an arbitrary driver and connection string in the jdbc field. Exploitation further depends on the attacker controlling a reachable malicious JDBC driver/endpoint that delivers a deserialization/RCE payload (reflected in the vector's AT:P). Limiting factors: authentication is required per the description, the malicious JDBC infrastructure must be reachable from the server, and patched 2.10.14+ instances enforce validation on the jdbc field itself. No workarounds exist short of upgrading.

Impact

This is a credible high-priority issue but not a drive-by. The CVSS 4.0 base score of 8.2 is driven by VI:H (high integrity impact consistent with RCE via a CWE-502 JDBC/deserialization gadget) with VC:N/VA:N, and notably includes AT:P (attack requirements present) - meaning exploitation depends on conditions the attacker must engineer, such as a reachable malicious JDBC driver/endpoint. CONFLICT TO VERIFY: the provided CVSS 4.0 vector states PR:N (no privileges), yet the description explicitly says 'an authenticated attacker' - these disagree, so authentication requirements are not reliably confirmable from the vector alone and the description's 'authenticated' prerequisite should be treated as the operative constraint. A public exploit reference exists (the GHSA advisory), so publicly available exploit code exists, but there is no KEV listing and no EPSS value supplied, so there is no evidence of active, widespread exploitation - this reads as a plausible targeted/post-authentication RCE rather than a mass-exploited internet worm. Net: prioritize patching for any internet-exposed or multi-tenant DataEase instance because authenticated RCE on a BI platform is severe, but the authentication requirement and attacker-controlled-driver precondition materially lower real-world mass-exploitation risk versus the raw score.

Exploit ScenarioDerived

An authenticated DataEase user creates or edits an H2 data source, setting jdbcUrl to a benign value beginning with 'jdbc:h2' (which passes the validation check) while placing a malicious driver and connection string in the separate jdbc field that is actually used to connect. When DataEase establishes the connection, the attacker-controlled JDBC driver/endpoint triggers deserialization of a malicious payload, leading to remote code execution on the DataEase server. Public exploit material is referenced in the GitHub security advisory (GHSA-7wcv-j6gc-qc7q).

AnalysisAIv1 – Oct 19, 2026

DataEase through 2.10.13 allows an authenticated user with data source configuration privileges to bypass H2 JDBC URL validation and force arbitrary JDBC driver connections, potentially leading to remote code execution. The flaw is fixed in DataEase 2.10.14, and publicly available exploit code exists; no CISA KEV confirmation was provided. The authoritative assessment rates this as high priority but not a drive-by issue because exploitation requires authentication and reachable malicious JDBC infrastructure.

RemediationAI

Vendor-released patch: upgrade DataEase to 2.10.14 or later, using the GitHub advisory and fixing commit as references. No workarounds are documented by the vendor. If immediate upgrade is not possible, restrict data source creation and configuration to trusted administrators, disable H2 data source support where it is not needed, and block outbound connections from the DataEase server to untrusted JDBC endpoints; these measures reduce exposure to the validation bypass but may break legitimate external data source integrations and do not replace upgrading.

Technical ContextAI · show details

The root cause is a CWE-502 deserialization risk reached through JDBC URL manipulation in DataEase's H2 data source handler. In H2.java, the getJdbc function validated only that the jdbcUrl field started with jdbc:h2, but the actual connection used a separate jdbc field. An attacker could set jdbcUrl to a benign jdbc:h2 value to pass validation while supplying an arbitrary driver and connection string in the jdbc field, causing the server to load attacker-influenced JDBC classes and connect to attacker-controlled endpoints. The vendor patch changes the check to validate the jdbc field directly and also hardens parameter validation in related Db2, Mongo, and SQL Server handlers. CPE data identifies DataEase as the affected product, and the authoritative assessment requires an authenticated session with privileges to create or configure data sources plus a reachable malicious JDBC driver or endpoint.

DescriptionCVE.org

DataEase is a data visualization and analytics platform. In DataEase versions through 2.10.13, a JDBC driver bypass vulnerability exists in the H2 database connection handler. The getJdbc function in H2.java checks if the jdbcUrl starts with jdbc:h2 but returns a separate jdbc field as the actual connection URL. An attacker can provide a jdbcUrl that starts with jdbc:h2 while supplying a different jdbc field with an arbitrary JDBC driver and connection string. This allows an authenticated attacker to trigger arbitrary JDBC connections with malicious drivers, potentially leading to remote code execution. The vulnerability is fixed in version 2.10.14. No known workarounds exist.

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

DataEase deployments through 2.10.13 are exposed to a high-severity flaw that lets users with data source configuration privileges bypass JDBC validation and potentially execute code on the DataEase host; publicly available exploit code exists. Leadership should prioritize remediation because a compromised or overly privileged administrative account could undermine the confidentiality and integrity of connected data and supporting infrastructure.

Attack Technique

Insecure deserialization occurs when an application converts serialized data (a stream of bytes representing an object's state) back into a living object without proper validation.

Remote Code Execution represents the critical moment when an attacker successfully runs arbitrary code on a target system without physical access.
