3DescriptionNVD
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved:
riscv: module: Fix out-of-bounds relocation access
The current code allows rel[j] to access one element past the end of the relocation section. Simplify to num_relocations which is equivalent to the existing size expression.
AnalysisAI
In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: riscv: module: Fix out-of-bounds relocation access The current code allows rel[j] to access one element past the end of the. Rated high severity (CVSS 7.1), this vulnerability is low attack complexity. This Out-of-bounds Read vulnerability could allow attackers to read data from memory outside the intended buffer boundaries.
Technical ContextAI
This vulnerability is classified as Out-of-bounds Read (CWE-125), which allows attackers to read data from memory outside the intended buffer boundaries. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: riscv: module: Fix out-of-bounds relocation access The current code allows rel[j] to access one element past the end of the relocation section. Simplify to num_relocations which is equivalent to the existing size expression. Affected products include: Linux Linux Kernel.
RemediationAI
A vendor patch is available. Apply the latest security update as soon as possible. Validate array indices and buffer lengths. Use memory-safe languages. Enable AddressSanitizer during testing.
