In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm cache: fix flushing uninitialized delayed_work on cache_ctr error An unexpected WARN_ON from flush_work() may occur when cache. Rated high severity (CVSS 7.8), this vulnerability is low attack complexity. This Use After Free vulnerability could allow attackers to access freed memory to execute arbitrary code or crash the application.
RemediationAI
A vendor patch is available. Apply the latest security update as soon as possible. Use smart pointers or garbage-collected languages. Set pointers to NULL after freeing. Enable memory sanitizers.

This vulnerability is classified as Use After Free (CWE-416), which allows attackers to access freed memory to execute arbitrary code or crash the application. In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: dm cache: fix flushing uninitialized delayed_work on cache_ctr error An unexpected WARN_ON from flush_work() may occur when cache creation fails, caused by destroying the uninitialized delayed_work waker in the error path of cache_create(). For example, the warning appears on the superblock checksum error. This patch doesn't affect the use-after-free fix for concurrent dm_resume and dm_destroy (commit 6a459d8edbdb ("dm cache: Fix UAF in destroy()")) as cache_dtr is not changed. Affected products include: Linux Linux Kernel.

Use-after-free vulnerabilities occur when a program continues to access memory through a pointer after that memory has been deallocated.
Memory corruption occurs when a program writes data beyond the boundaries of allocated memory regions or accesses memory in unintended ways, violating the integrity of the process's address space.
Information disclosure occurs when an application unintentionally exposes sensitive data that aids attackers in reconnaissance or directly compromises security.
