3DescriptionCVE.org
An authenticated OS command injection vulnerability exists in various Linksys router models (tested on WRT160Nv2) running firmware version v2.0.03 via the apply.cgi endpoint. The web interface fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input passed to the ping_size parameter during diagnostic operations. An attacker with valid credentials can inject arbitrary shell commands, enabling remote code execution.
AnalysisAI
An authenticated OS command injection vulnerability exists in various Linksys router models (tested on WRT160Nv2) running firmware version v2.0.03 via the apply.cgi endpoint. Rated high severity (CVSS 8.6), this vulnerability is remotely exploitable, low attack complexity. Public exploit code available and EPSS exploitation probability 46.6%.
Technical ContextAI
This vulnerability is classified as OS Command Injection (CWE-78), which allows attackers to execute arbitrary operating system commands on the host. An authenticated OS command injection vulnerability exists in various Linksys router models (tested on WRT160Nv2) running firmware version v2.0.03 via the apply.cgi endpoint. The web interface fails to properly sanitize user-supplied input passed to the ping_size parameter during diagnostic operations. An attacker with valid credentials can inject arbitrary shell commands, enabling remote code execution.
Affected ProductsAI
See vendor advisory for affected versions.
RemediationAI
No vendor patch is available at time of analysis. Monitor vendor advisories for updates. Avoid passing user input to shell commands. Use language-specific APIs instead of shell execution. Apply strict input validation with allowlists.
