Local CLI access with maintenance credentials gives AV:L/PR:H, straightforward metacharacter injection is AC:L, root-level outcome yields C/I/A:H; scope unchanged consistent with no subsequent-system impact.

3DescriptionCVE.org
An OS command injection vulnerability exists in maintenance command-line diagnostic utilities on Brocade Fabric OS versions before 9.2.2d and 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1. The binary fails to sanitize user-supplied input options when invoking underlying system commands through a shell interpreter. A privileged user with maintenance account access can exploit this issue by supplying crafted parameters, which results in arbitrary OS command execution with root privileges.
AnalysisAI
OS command injection in the maintenance command-line diagnostic utilities of Brocade Fabric OS allows an attacker who already holds maintenance-level credentials to run arbitrary operating-system commands with root privileges on the switch. Only Fabric OS versions before 9.2.2d and the 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 range are affected; the vulnerable binaries pass user-supplied option parameters unsanitized into a shell interpreter, so crafted metacharacters escape the diagnostic tool's intended behavior. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires a privileged maintenance-account login to the Brocade Fabric OS CLI (PR:H) and local/console-or-session access to the affected maintenance command-line diagnostic utilities (AV:L); the attacker supplies crafted command-line option parameters containing shell metacharacters that the vulnerable binary passes unsanitized to a shell interpreter. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a legitimate but constrained privilege-escalation issue rather than a mass-exploitation threat. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | The remediation path indicated by the affected version ranges is to upgrade Fabric OS to 9.2.2d or later for the 9.x line, or to a 10.x release above 10.0.0a1 for the 10.0.0 platform, after validating the target build against the vendor advisory at https://support.broadcom.com/external/content/SecurityAdvisories/0/39144 - note that the provided intelligence does not explicitly confirm a patch release identifier, so treat the fixed versions as implied by the version ranges and verify with Broadcom before scheduling the window, since Fabric OS upgrades typically require a fabric-level maintenance window and are disruptive to the affected switch. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory every Brocade Fabric OS switch in the estate and flag those running releases before 9.2.2d or within the 10.0.0 through 10.0.0a1 range, noting that no vendor-released patch is identified at time of analysis; in parallel, review and restrict maintenance-level accounts, rotate their credentials, and inspect command history and session logs on any switch recently accessed by a maintenance account to look for shell metacharacters passed into diagnostic utilities. …
