mall4j through 4.0 fails to validate the sysType field in sa-token sessions, allowing storefront customers to authenticate as back-office users by reusing their session tokens. Attackers can register on the public storefront and use their customer session token to access admin endpoints lacking @PreAuthorize permission checks, including menu listings, file uploads, and configuration endpoints.
AnalysisAI
Vertical privilege escalation in mall4j through 4.0 lets any self-registered storefront customer reach back-office administrative endpoints - including menu listings, file uploads, and configuration routes - by presenting the same sa-token session that was issued for the customer storefront. The flaw (CWE-287 improper authentication) is that the session validation layer never checks the sysType field that is supposed to separate customer from admin identity, so only endpoints already guarded by @PreAuthorize remain safe. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires the attacker to hold a valid storefront customer sa-token session, which is trivially obtained since mall4j permits open self-registration on the public storefront (hence PR:L, not PR:N). … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but moderate-priority vertical privilege-escalation flaw, not a high-CVSS-but-low-real-risk issue nor a critical emergency. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch was identified in the available intelligence at time of analysis, so treat the following as compensating controls. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
