DescriptionCVE.org

A flaw was found in the PCP (Performance Co-Pilot) pmproxy service. A remote attacker can exploit a vulnerability in the pmLogLoadInDom() function by sending a specially crafted request. This bypasses a critical bounds check, which can lead to the pmproxy service crashing, causing a Denial of Service (DoS). Additionally, this flaw may enable the leakage of sensitive information from the system's memory.

AnalysisAI

Remote unauthenticated denial of service and memory disclosure in the Performance Co-Pilot (PCP) pmproxy service affects Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6 through 10 and OpenShift Container Platform 4. An out-of-bounds read (CWE-125) in the pmLogLoadInDom() function can be triggered by a specially crafted network request, causing the pmproxy process to crash and potentially leaking sensitive data from process memory. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation The PCP pmproxy service must be running and reachable over the network from the attacker - pmproxy is not enabled by default on all RHEL installations and must be explicitly started and network-exposed. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The vendor-assigned CVSS 3.1 score of 6.5 with vector CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:N/I:L/A:L contains a notable internal inconsistency: the description explicitly states the flaw 'may enable the leakage of sensitive information from the system's memory,' which implies a confidentiality impact - yet the vector assigns C:N and anomalously assigns I:L (integrity). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An unauthenticated remote attacker with network access to a host exposing the pmproxy service sends a specially crafted HTTP or PCP protocol request that triggers the pmLogLoadInDom() function with malformed input, causing an out-of-bounds read. The resulting memory access violation crashes the pmproxy daemon, interrupting performance metric collection and proxy services for the affected host. …
Remediation Apply the vendor-released patch via Red Hat's official channels (yum/dnf update pcp) once a fix is published; monitor https://access.redhat.com/security/cve/CVE-2026-16530 and https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=2506033 for patch availability announcements, as no specific fixed PCP package version is confirmed in the current intelligence. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
