DescriptionCVE.org

Grav Login Plugin versions before 3.8.13 contain an insufficient session expiration vulnerability in TokenStorage.php where the findTriplet() method fails to properly validate Remember Me token timestamps. Attackers with a captured Remember Me cookie can authenticate indefinitely instead of the configured timeout period, as the expiry check compares an array to a scalar value which always evaluates incorrectly in PHP.

AnalysisAI

Persistent session hijacking in Grav Login Plugin before 3.8.13 allows any attacker holding a captured Remember Me cookie to authenticate indefinitely, bypassing the configured session timeout. The root cause is a PHP type-comparison bug in TokenStorage.php's findTriplet() method: the expiry check compares an array value against a scalar timestamp, a comparison that always evaluates incorrectly in PHP, effectively nullifying the token lifetime enforcement. …

Hypothetical attack flow derived from CVE metadata

Access
Identify Grav site with Remember Me enabled
Delivery
Capture victim Remember Me cookie via XSS or interception
Exploit
Present expired cookie to login endpoint
Execution
findTriplet() expiry check bypassed due to PHP type bug
Persist
Server grants authenticated session
Impact
Maintain persistent CMS access beyond timeout

Vulnerability AssessmentAI

Exploitation Exploitation requires two specific preconditions: first, the target Grav site must have the Remember Me feature enabled in the Login Plugin (this is a configurable option, not the default in all deployments); second, the attacker must already possess a valid Remember Me cookie captured from an authenticated user via a separate attack vector such as XSS, network interception, or physical access. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment.
Risk Assessment The CVSS 4.0 score of 6.3 reflects a moderate-severity vulnerability with meaningful real-world constraints. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in.
Exploit Scenario An attacker who previously obtained a victim's Grav Remember Me cookie - via a network sniff on an HTTP-only deployment, a prior XSS attack, or physical access to a browser - replays that cookie against the Grav login endpoint after the configured timeout period has elapsed. Because the timestamp expiry check in findTriplet() always evaluates incorrectly due to the PHP type comparison bug, the server accepts the stale token and issues an authenticated session, granting the attacker persistent access to the Grav CMS backend for as long as the token record exists in storage.
Remediation Upgrade the Grav Login Plugin to version 3.8.13 or later, which corrects the array-to-scalar type comparison in TokenStorage.php's findTriplet() method. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report.
