Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Jul 07, 2026
Privilege escalation in ARC Informatique PcVue SCADA/HMI software (all versions prior to 17.0.0) arises because the encryption algorithm protecting user-account configuration in the built-in user directory is cryptographically inadequate (CWE-326). A local attacker with low privileges can decrypt or tamper with the stored account configuration and ultimately obtain privileged access to the PcVue application. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, and it is not listed in CISA KEV; the vendor CVSS 4.0 base score is 8.4 (High).

Lifecycle Timeline
1DescriptionCVE.org
The encryption algorithm used to protect the configuration of user accounts, stored in the built-in user directory of PcVue projects, all versions prior to 17.0.0, is not strong enough for the level of protection required. A local attacker could alter the existing configuration and ultimately gain privileged access to the PcVue application.
Executive ViewAI
ARC Informatique PcVue industrial control software contains a privilege escalation vulnerability affecting all versions prior to 17.0.0, allowing local system users to gain unauthorized administrative control over critical operational technology. This poses direct risk to manufacturing, utilities, and infrastructure organizations whose processes depend on PcVue, with potential for process disruption, safety incidents, or unauthorized commands. Leadership should treat this as a significant operational risk given the widespread deployment of PcVue in critical sectors.
Within 24 hours: inventory all PcVue deployments and document installed versions; restrict local system access to PcVue servers using OS-level access controls. Within 7 days: enable audit logging for all PcVue account modifications and configuration changes; conduct immediate privilege review and minimize non-essential high-privilege accounts. Within 30 days: contact ARC Informatique to confirm patch status and expected release timeline; implement network segmentation isolating PcVue systems from enterprise networks.
No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: restrict local system access via host-based access controls and strong account management; protect user configuration files with restrictive filesystem permissions; implement comprehensive audit logging for all account and configuration modifications; monitor logs for suspicious configuration changes; segment PcVue systems from general enterprise networks to contain lateral movement; regularly audit and review user privilege assignments.
