admin3 through 3.0.0 fails to invalidate existing sessions when disabling a user account, allowing attackers to retain authenticated access with original permissions. Attackers can continue using bearer tokens issued before account disablement to authenticate requests, as the AuthInterceptor never re-validates the user's locked status and session expiry resets on each request.
AnalysisAI
Disabling or locking a user account in admin3 through 3.0.0 does not invalidate that user's existing bearer tokens, so a previously authenticated user retains full access with their original permissions after the account is disabled. The root cause is twofold: the AuthInterceptor never re-checks the user's locked status on subsequent requests, and LocalSessionManager resets session expiry on every request, so a pre-existing token never lapses through inactivity. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Exploitation requires the attacker to possess a valid bearer token that was issued by admin3 while their account was still enabled, and it only becomes relevant after an administrator disables or locks that account. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but moderate-severity access-control weakness, correctly rated CVSS 5.4 (AV:N/AC:L/PR:L/UI:N/S:U/C:L/I:L/A:N). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis: the references supplied point to vulnerable 3.0.0 source files and a third-party POC, not to an upstream fix or tagged patched release, so verify against the project repository at https://github.com/cjbi/admin3 and the advisory at https://www.vulncheck.com/advisories/admin3-through-3.0.0-session-not-invalidated-when-a-user-account-is-disabled before assuming a fix exists. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
