AV:L and PR:L because attacker must influence local connection settings; AC:H reflects the non-default SASL build plus configuration double-precondition (AT:P equivalent).

4DescriptionCVE.org
A size check in the client-side authentication path of the MongoDB C Driver can wrap around, so an unusually large user-name value is accepted and copied past the end of a small buffer. A party able to set the driver's connection settings may cause the application that embeds the driver to terminate unexpectedly. Reaching this code requires a build in which the optional external SASL authentication backend is present and a connection configured to use it.
AnalysisAI
Integer overflow in the MongoDB C Driver's SASL authentication path allows an abnormally large username to bypass a size check via arithmetic wrap-around, writing past the end of a fixed-size buffer and crashing the embedding application. Only applications compiled with the optional external SASL backend and configured to use it are reachable; the impact is limited to availability with no confidentiality or integrity consequence per CVSS VC:N/VI:N. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Two non-default conditions must simultaneously be satisfied: (1) the MongoDB C Driver must have been built with the optional external SASL authentication backend compiled in - this is not a default build option; and (2) the targeted connection must be configured to use SASL authentication specifically. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 5.7 (AV:L/AC:L/AT:P/PR:L/UI:N/VC:N/VI:N/VA:H) appropriately reflects the bounded real-world risk. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | No vendor-released patch version has been identified from the available data; the MongoDB Jira ticket CDRIVER-6416 (https://jira.mongodb.org/browse/CDRIVER-6416) should be monitored for fix release announcements. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
