| Exploitation Conditions | The AI Scanner module endpoints in CyberPanel 2.4.3-2.4.5 require no authentication and accept unauthenticated HTTP requests from any network-reachable source; no special configuration, user interaction, or account credentials are needed. Exploitation requires only network access to the CyberPanel web interface (typically TCP port 8090) and the presence of the AI Scanner feature, which is bundled with affected versions by default. Exploitation is limited to instances where the CyberPanel port is directly reachable by the attacker; deployments protected by a firewall, VPN, or IP allowlist restricting panel access to trusted networks are not exposed to external exploitation. Version 2.4.6 and later are not affected. |
| Impact | The provided CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:N/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:N/VA:N) accurately represents the exposure: unauthenticated, low-complexity network access yielding partial confidentiality impact with no integrity or availability consequence. The disclosed data - admin usernames, API-key prefixes, scan IDs, and hosted domain names - is high-value reconnaissance material that meaningfully enables follow-on attacks such as credential stuffing or targeted phishing against panel administrators. No EPSS score was provided in the input, so exploitation probability must be inferred; the trivial unauthenticated HTTP access pattern makes opportunistic automated scanning plausible, though KEV absence and no reported POC indicate exploitation has not been widespread or confirmed. Risk is highest for multi-tenant hosting providers where a single CyberPanel instance manages many domains and administrator accounts; single-site self-hosted deployments face narrower but still material exposure since admin username enumeration lowers the barrier to brute-force attacks. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An unauthenticated attacker sends HTTP POST requests to /aiscanner/scan-callback/ or /aiscanner/receive-status-update/ on a public-facing CyberPanel 2.4.3-2.4.5 instance, receiving JSON responses containing administrator usernames, partial API keys, scan identifiers, and hosted domain names without any credentials. Armed with this enumerated account data, the attacker launches targeted credential-stuffing or phishing campaigns against the identified administrators, seeking to escalate from reconnaissance to full panel compromise and access to all hosted sites. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 09, 2026
CyberPanel versions 2.4.3 through 2.4.5 expose unauthenticated AI Scanner callback and status-update endpoints that return administrator usernames, API-key prefixes, scan identifiers, target domains, and account metadata without requiring any credentials. Unauthenticated network attackers can systematically enumerate panel administrators and recent scanner activity across multi-tenant hosting installations, enabling reconnaissance for follow-on credential attacks or phishing. No public exploit code has been identified at time of analysis; vendor-released patch version 2.4.6 is available.
RemediationAI
Upgrade to CyberPanel 2.4.6, which introduces mandatory X-API-Key header validation to both the AI Scanner scan_callback and receive_status_update endpoints (patch commit 20484fd1786a424054386e5d6290d66b47cab3a3). The vendor advisory is at https://github.com/usmannasir/cyberpanel/security/advisories/GHSA-qmwq-9cc8-x6h2. If immediate upgrade is not feasible, restrict network access to the CyberPanel web interface port (typically TCP 8090) to trusted IP ranges using firewall rules - this eliminates external unauthenticated access to the vulnerable endpoints without requiring application changes. Alternatively, blocking HTTP requests to the specific paths /aiscanner/scan-callback/ and /aiscanner/receive-status-update/ at a reverse proxy or WAF provides a targeted interim control, though doing so will disable AI Scanner callback functionality until the patch is applied.

Technical ContextAI · show details
CyberPanel is a Python/Django-based web hosting control panel (CPE: cpe:2.3:a:usmannasir:cyberpanel) that includes an AI Scanner module for malware detection. The module implements two webhook-style callback endpoints - scan_callback in aiScanner/api.py and receive_status_update in aiScanner/status_api.py - designed to receive inbound scan results from an external scanning platform. Prior to the patch, neither endpoint validated the presence or correctness of an X-API-Key HTTP header before processing requests or returning data, constituting CWE-200 (Exposure of Sensitive Information to an Unauthorized Actor). The ScanHistory and AIScannerSettings Django ORM models store per-admin API keys, associated domain names, scan identifiers, and account metadata, all of which were accessible without authentication. The fix commit also adds HTML output encoding throughout the scanner.html template (escapeHtml helper and encodeURIComponent on scan IDs), indicating a secondary stored or reflected XSS surface existed in the same feature and was remediated in the same release.

DescriptionCVE.org
CyberPanel versions 2.4.3 through 2.4.5 expose unauthenticated AI Scanner debugging endpoints that disclose administrator usernames, API-key prefixes, scan identifiers, target domains, and account metadata. Unauthenticated attackers can enumerate panel administrators and recent scanner activity to inventory multi-tenant installations and facilitate follow-on attacks.
