Network-reachable with low-priv account required (PR:L); scope changes because exfiltrated credentials and SSRF impact systems beyond Snipe-IT itself (S:C); no availability impact.

5DescriptionCVE.org
Snipe-IT versions before 8.7.0 fail to sanitize the category EULA text field before rendering it in checkout confirmation emails. Attackers with low-privilege permissions can inject markdown image syntax or raw HTML img tags pointing to local files or remote URLs, which the mail auto-embed library resolves server-side and returns as email attachments, exfiltrating sensitive files like .env credentials and enabling SSRF attacks.
AnalysisAI
Arbitrary file read and SSRF in Snipe-IT before 8.7.0 allow low-privileged users to exfiltrate sensitive server files - including .env credential files - via unsanitized EULA text fields. An attacker with category-edit permissions injects markdown image syntax or raw HTML img tags referencing local file paths or remote URLs; the mail auto-embed library resolves these references server-side during checkout confirmation email generation and returns the resolved content as email attachments. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | The attacker must hold a Snipe-IT account with permissions to edit category records, specifically the EULA text field - this corresponds to the CVSS PR:L rating and limits exploitation to authenticated low-privileged users, not anonymous external actors. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | The CVSS 4.0 score of 8.4 accurately represents the risk profile: network-accessible, low-complexity exploitation requiring only low privileges (PR:L), with high confidentiality impact on both the vulnerable system (VC:H, direct file read) and subsequent systems (SC:H, credentials enabling lateral movement). … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Snipe-IT to version 8.7.0 or later, which is the vendor-released patch confirmed by the security advisory at https://github.com/grokability/snipe-it/security/advisories/GHSA-qmhc-p47c-6x75. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
