Sentry is an error tracking and performance monitoring tool. From 23.11.0 until 26.7.0, Sentry instances with the relocation feature enabled unsafely deserialize a legacy database field while importing a user-supplied relocation archive. An authenticated user can craft an archive that causes arbitrary code execution in the import worker process. Self-hosted installations using the default configuration are not affected because the relocation feature is disabled by default. This issue is fixed in version 26.7.0.
AnalysisAI
Authenticated code execution in Sentry's relocation import worker lets a user with a valid account on an affected instance run arbitrary code in the worker process by uploading a crafted relocation archive. Only instances that have explicitly enabled the relocation (backup import/export) feature are exposed, since that feature is disabled by default in self-hosted installations; affected versions run from 23.11.0 up to but not including 26.7.0, which contains the fix. …

Vulnerability AssessmentAI
| Exploitation | Requires the Sentry relocation feature to be explicitly enabled - it is DISABLED BY DEFAULT, so self-hosted installations running the default configuration are not affected. … Additional conditions and limiting factors are described in the full assessment. |
| Risk Assessment | This is a genuine but conditionally-gated RCE. … Full risk analysis with EPSS, KEV, and SSVC signal comparison available after sign-in. |
| Exploit Scenario | Full exploit scenario with step-by-step reproduction available after sign-in. |
| Remediation | Upgrade Sentry to 26.7.0 or later, which is the vendor-released fix and the version referenced by the release tag https://github.com/getsentry/sentry/releases/tag/26.7.0; the underlying change is in pull request https://github.com/getsentry/sentry/pull/119622 (commit d7fd44193c282102f9fcd2c73973820f3d10ac3a), full details in the advisory https://github.com/getsentry/sentry/security/advisories/GHSA-xm86-7c47-gjm4. … Detailed patch versions, workarounds, and compensating controls in full report. |
Recommended ActionAI
Within 24 hours, inventory every self-hosted Sentry deployment and identify which are running versions 23.11.0 up to but not including 26.7.0 and have the relocation (backup import/export) feature flag enabled; where relocation is not an active business requirement, disable the feature immediately, since it is non-default and only enabled instances are exposed, and where it must stay on, restrict import capability to a small set of trusted administrators. …
