|
| Exploitation Conditions | Requires the attacker to be on the same LAN/network segment as the mH-DEVELOPER module (CVSS AV:A adjacent, not routable from the internet). No authentication and no user interaction are needed to reach the exposed services (PR:N/UI:N) because the device loads no firewall rules at startup by default, leaving SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED listening without access control. The limiting factor is network position: the flaw is not exploitable from outside the local network unless another device bridges access, and meaningful impact (device takeover) generally requires chaining one of the sibling vulnerabilities in the same advisory. Fixed in version 3.0.30. |
| Impact | This is a design/hygiene weakness (CWE-923) rather than a directly weaponizable memory-corruption or code-execution flaw. The vendor CVSS 4.0 vector (AV:A/AC:L/AT:N/PR:N/UI:N/VC:L/VI:L/VA:N, base 5.3) correctly places this on the ADJACENT network (LAN), not the internet - an attacker must already have a foothold on the same network segment. No EPSS score, no CISA KEV listing, and no public POC are present in the input, so there is no evidence of active exploitation or opportunistic mass scanning. The real risk of this issue is as an ENABLER/amplifier: by loading no firewall rules at startup it leaves SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED reachable by any LAN client, which directly compounds the sibling flaws in the same CERT-PL advisory family (hardcoded SSH backdoor key CVE-2026-82928, missing token verification CVE-2026-82930, cleartext HTTP CVE-2026-82933). On its own the confidentiality/integrity impact is Low (service exposure/reconnaissance and reachability of unauthenticated interfaces); combined with those siblings it becomes a path to full device takeover. Net: NOT a standalone high-priority internet-facing threat, but a meaningful defense-in-depth failure on affected LANs. Note the tag 'Information Disclosure' only loosely fits - the core issue is missing network access control, not data leakage per se. |
| Exploit ScenarioDerived | An attacker who has gained a position on the same LAN as the mH-DEVELOPER module (e.g. via a compromised Wi-Fi client or another IoT device) scans the host and finds SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED all listening with no firewall/access control. They connect directly to these interfaces to enumerate the device and then chain a sibling weakness - such as the unauthenticated API (CVE-2026-82930) or hardcoded SSH key (CVE-2026-82928) - to gain control. No public exploit code is identified for this specific CVE at time of analysis. |

Alert meAnalysisAIv1 – Sep 28, 2026
mH-DEVELOPER smart home modules running firmware before 3.0.30 start up without loading any firewall rules, leaving SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED listening on the LAN with no access control, so any client on the same network segment can reach every service unauthenticated (CVSS 4.0 5.3; CVSS 3.1 AV:A/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N, low confidentiality and integrity impact). Exploitation requires network adjacency - the module is not reachable from the internet unless another device bridges access - and meaningful device takeover typically depends on chaining one of the sibling vulnerabilities covered by the same CERT-PL advisory. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, and the issue is a design/hygiene weakness (CWE-923) rather than a memory-corruption or code-execution flaw; the vendor fixed it in version 3.0.30.
RemediationAI
Vendor-released patch: 3.0.30 - upgrade the mH-DEVELOPER module to firmware version 3.0.30, which is the version in which the missing firewall/access-control behavior was fixed; see the vendor page https://www.fif.com.pl/pl/strona-glowna/1367-mh-developer.html and the CERT-PL advisory https://cert.pl/posts/2026/09/CVE-2026-82928/ for the corresponding sibling issues that should be patched at the same time. If the update cannot be applied promptly, place the module on an isolated management VLAN or a dedicated IoT network segment that has no route to user workstations or the internet, accepting the trade-off that cloud integrations and mobile-app control may stop working or require an explicit proxy/jump host. As a second layer, block inbound traffic to the device's SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED ports at the upstream router or firewall and permit only known administrator addresses, recognizing that this depends on stable admin IPs and can lock out legitimate management sessions if misconfigured. Where the Node-RED interface is not in use, disable it to remove an entire unauthenticated service, with the side effect of losing any local automation flows hosted there. Because exploitation requires LAN adjacency, physical/network segregation is an effective compensating control; it does not remove the underlying weakness, so patching to 3.0.30 remains the definitive fix.

Technical ContextAI · show details
The mH-DEVELOPER is an embedded smart home module from F&F Filipowski that exposes administrative and integration interfaces including SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED. Its boot sequence fails to apply any firewall or packet-filter rules, so all listening daemons bind and remain reachable on every interface of the LAN-facing network stack rather than being restricted to intended endpoints. This maps to CWE-923 (Improper Restriction of Communication Channel to Intended Endpoints), a design/configuration class of weakness rather than a memory-safety bug: the code that would constrain the channel is effectively absent at startup. CPE cpe:2.3:a:f&f_filipowski:mh-developer:*:*:*:*:*:*:*:* confirms all firmware builds prior to 3.0.30 are in scope. Because there is no authentication gate on the exposed services and no user interaction is needed, the only real precondition is network position (CVSS AV:A adjacent, PR:N/UI:N); scope is unchanged (S:U) and impact is limited to low confidentiality and low integrity, which is consistent with the 5.3 base score. Note the scoring divergence: the CVSS 4.0 vector records only VC:L/VI:L, while the independent CVSS 3.1 assessment reaches the same qualitative conclusion at L/L. The exposure is a hardening failure that widens the attack surface and enables lateral movement or chained exploitation of other flaws in the same product family, not a standalone remote compromise primitive.

mH-DEVELOPER smart home module does not load any firewall rules at startup. This leaves all listening services, including SSH, HTTP, WebSocket, and Node-RED, fully exposed on the LAN without access control. Any client on the same network can reach every service.
This issue was fixed in version 3.0.30
