AnalysisAIv1 – Jul 21, 2026

Full remote takeover of Oracle Coherence (Fusion Middleware Core component) allows an unauthenticated attacker with only TCP network access to fully compromise the in-memory data grid, per Oracle's July 2026 Critical Patch Update. Oracle rates it 'Easily exploitable' with a CVSS 3.1 base score of 9.8 (C:H/I:H/A:H), meaning a successful attack yields complete confidentiality, integrity, and availability compromise. No public exploit identified at time of analysis, and it is not currently listed in CISA KEV, but the low-complexity, no-authentication profile makes it a high-priority patch.

DescriptionCVE.org

Vulnerability in the Oracle Coherence product of Oracle Fusion Middleware (component: Core). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.1.4.0, 14.1.1.0.0, 14.1.2.0.0 and 15.1.1.0.0. Easily exploitable vulnerability allows unauthenticated attacker with network access via TCP to compromise Oracle Coherence. Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in takeover of Oracle Coherence. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 9.8 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:L/PR:N/UI:N/S:U/C:H/I:H/A:H).

Executive ViewAI

Why It Matters

Oracle Coherence in-memory data grids can be completely compromised by unauthenticated remote attackers with only network access (CVE-2026-60227, CVSS 9.8), risking total loss of confidentiality, integrity, and availability for applications relying on this Fusion Middleware component. Organizations using Coherence face immediate exposure, as the vulnerability is easily exploitable and patching is not yet available.

Recommended Action

Within 24 hours: Identify all systems running Oracle Coherence and map their network accessibility from untrusted zones; review access and authentication logs for suspicious connection attempts to Coherence ports. Within 7 days: Deploy network segmentation and firewall rules restricting TCP access to Coherence instances to only authorized internal systems; disable or isolate non-production Coherence deployments where possible. Within 30 days: Continuously monitor Oracle security advisories for patch availability; test patching procedures in a staging environment; prepare for immediate production deployment upon vendor patch release; conduct forensic analysis of network traffic and logs for evidence of exploitation attempts.

Business Impact: Severe
Compensating Controls

No vendor-released patch identified at time of analysis. Interim mitigations: implement firewall allowlists and network segmentation to restrict TCP access to Coherence instances; disable or isolate non-critical Coherence clusters; enable comprehensive logging and alerting for connection attempts to affected systems; establish rapid patching procedures and pre-stage patches in staging environments for immediate deployment; evaluate temporary failover to non-Coherence-dependent caching mechanisms if operationally feasible.

This Month Plan within 30 days. Criteria: MEDIUM severity (CVSS 4.0-6.9), lower exploitation probability. Include in regular patch cycle.
Monitor Track and reassess. Criteria: LOW severity (CVSS 0.1-3.9), minimal exploitation risk. No immediate action needed.
